1. Cypress Hill - We were on our way to the Skate Hut in Rhode Island. I didn't know what any of the RI stations were so I screwed around with the dial. Eventually, it landed on a college radio station that was playing "Pigs". We didn't know if it was a real song or a bit the station had put together. Most hip hop didn't have such prominent guitar or whiny vocals. It was really just very crazy sounding.

2. Public Enemy - I was playing mini golf with my friend Greg on a family trip to Rehobeth beach Delaware. I'm pretty sure it was "Terminator X to the Edge of Panic" I heard coming from a Jeep and thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever heard. or maybe it was the other one where the whining sound goes the other way. Either way i was very impressed.

3. Death - I was a punk/ hardcore kid and hated metal. One day my friend Nick played the Death album "Leprosy" in the car. We were in awe of how heavy but also silly it was. hardcore was mostly dead for me after that.
