I don't know if anyone has spoken of this yet or not...but I just heard on CNN.com that a Batman vs. Superman film is in the works for 2004.

Does anybody think this film has  a chance of being halfway decent?

I feel that as long as George Clooney stays as far away as possible...it should be okay.

Who would be the bad guy?  What would these guys be fighting over?  Personally I think Superman would kick Batman's ass.

Will

Superman's no fun. Any time he gets in trouble all of a sudden he gets some new power!

I've actually had problems with Superman since the first movie. Okay, so he's here to make the world a better place, stop crime and such. But he can't take care of everything, which is reasonable. Then his girlfriend gets killed and all of a sudden it's fine with him to spin the earth backwards and turn back time to save her.  What about the Holocaust, Mr. Superman? What, are you an Anti-Semite? It's okay to turn back time to stop Lois Lane from dying in a train wreck but you draw the line at concentration camps?  Typical.

At least Batman has the excuse of no super powers.

The only way Batman could have a chance against Superman is if he gets some kryptonite.  Otherwise Superman would kill him in any number of ways.

The Honn

I really hope this doesnt get made. I can understand Freddy vs Jason, but Superman vs Batman would be awful. They need to stick to the dark and twisted Tim Burton style Batman, not this camp crap. And as for Superman they should just leave that alone.

Cloudio

It seems that it is going to be made...which I don't know what to think about it.

It says that they will fight together against super-villains, but there different outlooks on things will lead to them having it out...

Personally, I am more of a Batman fan.  Bruce Wayne should be resourceful enough to find some kryponite and make some kind of deadly weapon out of it...one would think.

                   First, Freddy Vs. Jason
                 And now,Batman Vs. Superman
Can Geraldo Vs. Bill O'Reilly, and Jerry Springer Vs. Howard Stern, both  be far behind?

Rumor has it (and it may not come to pass) that Wolfgang Petersen is directing.  This is the guy behind Das Boot and Air Force One .  Might be good.

Wolfgng Petersen is behind it. He was just going to produce, but he's signed and Warner wants this done for 2004. It's written by Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en, Sleepy Hollow). I just don't get how it will be interesting. Batman is a mortal who relies on his nemesis' unbelievable stupidity. Superman is indesctructable and super-powerful. How would this be a fair fight? Maybe Sup vs. Green Lantern or Captain Marvel. I've mentioned on this board before a cool story DC ran about six years ago wherein Kal-El is adopted by the Wayne family and named Bruce, and when they are killed he assumes the cape and cowel of the bat, yet he has Superman's powers. That would be cool on the big screen.

You probably know this already, but Bat and Sups fought before, and Bat won. Twice.

Lee

Alot of you think Superman would clobber Batman. It definately would seem that way. But I've seen many an issue where Supes got his ass kicked royally. Even by mere mortals! Must be old age setting in. :)

yeah I can't see how they can make this movie, the only way I can see is if they make Batman the villian and him use kryptonite to keep superman at bay.  and than superman have to work around that somehow.  but they wouldn't want to make either of these popular characters the bad guy

Orga Hades

According to comic book lore and legend, Batman does indeed keep a sliver of kryptonite in his utility belt; a gift from Superman himself after he went gonzo and almost destroyed the Justice League.  Not only that, but pre-kryptonite sliver, Batman was able to defeat Superman--and he did so with both his arms broken.  I think he clutched some sort electrocuting bat-device to his chest and it shot out like a harpoon and gave Superman enough milliamperes to fell him.  Either way, Collin Baker could probably knock both their heads into next year so it's a fairly moot point

BlackAngel

I agree.  Batman vs. Superman as a movie?  I keep thinking Worlds Finests from Cartoon Network.

John

Why don't they make the matchup that many fans really want to see; Aliens vs. Predator?
