It's been a little while since I updated the William Girdler website. My excuses come in two exciting flavors.

Apart from real-world obligations, I channeled my Girdler energy into a two-part Fangoria article with Al Adamson biographer David Konow. Between the two of us, we interviewed about 16 people for the two-parter. I had initially planned to post a few full-interviews once the article came out, but the piece was pushed back to September to compliment ... William Girdler's Asylum of Satan DVD! I contributed to the DVD, too, though I've no idea how the final product will turn out. I'll assume (re: hope?) Andrew will toss the DVD in his Amazon banner rotation when the time comes, so I'll refrain from over-hyping September's Girdlerpalooza.

The other reason my updates have been so tardy is because the next update on my "to-do" list was the exhaustive Sheba Baby summary. There's no doubt Sheba Baby is Gird's crappiest film. So crappy I'd probably turn it off if it showed up on TV.  Not crappy in a campy way: crappy in a boring way. And it's really talky. So it took me forever to finish the transcript. Then I didn't want to look at it for a while because even my own transcript was boring me. Then I lost all of my screen captures. It was just one irritating thing after another. As hard as I tried, I still don't think I was able to put any kind of fun "spin" on the film.

But it's finished now. Which also means I can finally shift my focus to Girdler's last three films -- the films he's best known for.

Because I wasn't entirely satisfied with the Sheba Baby item, and since I needed a writerly B-movie cleansing following my Zen-journey into such a boring-assed film, I decided to post a special report on my trip to Blobfest 2002:

Granted, attending Blobfest didn't require much of a "trip." It was held right up the street in at the movie theater seen in the 1958 classic. I've been told that the crowded numbered 800 people, which is pretty darned amazing when you think about it.

Blobfest is really a sight to behold, and you can be sure I'll pop in again next year.

"Sheba Baby" is one of Pam Grier's best actioneers, despite its PG rating(but it's as violent as an R rated film, since all 70s films all are much like R rated films, without the word "@!#$",nudity, or sex scenes.
I'll take "Sheba Baby" over any of the current crap that Pam makes these days(does she really have to pay the bills, nowadays)anytime.
