Sci Fi has actually done good!

There's a show on Sci-Fi this Friday that seems very interesting. More than a few times on this board we've talked about cheesy movies on late night TV hosted by weird characters. Well, SFC's take is hosted by none other than the funniest man in the world, Bill Shatner! It might suck, but Sci Fi should be applauded for the concept alone (assuming it's not another show they're taking false credit for).

WILLIAM SHATNER’S FULL MOON FRIGHT NIGHT debuts August 3rd on the Sci-Fi Channel and will air at 11 p.m. ET each Saturday Night. Essentially, it is going to be William Shatner doing the Joe Bob Briggs role and playing host to different Full Moon Pictures’ production each week. In addition to hosting the films, there will also be special guests and Shatner himself will help re-enact some of the films’ various death scenes. So far only 12 movies/episodes are slated to air.

The movies scheduled are:
THE VAMPIRE JOURNALS
SIDESHOW
RAGDOLL
SHRUNKEN HEADS
WITCHOUSE II: BLOOD COVEN
KILLJOY
HORRORVISION
HEAD OF THE FAMILY
HIDEOUS!
CASTLE FREAK
OBLIVION
PUPPET MASTER VS DEMONIC TOYS

The last title is being made exclusively for the Sci-Fi Channel series and the plot concerns the possessor of the Demonic Toys meeting up with a girl who has bought the Puppet Master dolls off Ebay and from their much chaos ensues.

Expect Shatner to ham it up only as Shatner can. Expect the Full Moon movies to suck as only Full Moon can.

When I found most of Full Moon's more recent titles in the DVD clearance bin at my local Wherehouse Music for $9.99, I was hoping this was a sign they might be going down for the count. Guess I was wrong.

But the combination of Shatner and Full Moon sounds promising. The hammiest actor in creation hosting lots of cheesy movies, sandwiched between white bread movies like DANTE'S PEAK and JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH: A B-movie hoagie! (I'd like to apologize now for that bad joke, I'm very tired and don't even have the excuse of being drunk)

Full Moon just keeps findinging ways to live on.........

Are they still around making movies?  I like the Subspecies series and I hear rumours that someone is making a sequel.  I also like Vampire Journals.  I thought Ted Nico-whatshisname should get a shot at something with a bigger budget.  I hear rumours about another Trancers movie, too.  Is Full Moon doing these?

You mentioned two great potential parts of this shindig. But you forgot an important part of the cast...Shatners wig! Why, that head tribble alone is worth gales of hilarity.

Dammit...they show Ragdoll, Horrorvision, Killjoy, and Head Of The Family...but not The Dead Hate The Living?! THAT'S f**kED UP, MAN!! I've met maybe 2 people since that movie came out that didn't like it, and they weren't zombie fans at all.

Once again, a good zombie movie is passed over by Sci-Fi...

I wish I got Sci-Fi so I could tape all those :p

It sounds funny, but I don't know if I can handle sitting through the Full Moon movies just to watch Shatner ham it up.

I didn't like THE DEAD HATE THE LIVING either, so increase your count to 3.  And I am a zombie fan.   It just didn't do anything for me.  Not enough zombies--and it reminded me more of DEMONS than of any of the zombie films I've seen.

Don't get me wrong this sounds like a good idea for a show, I will be tuning in this week. But coudn't they show one of Full Moon's good movies? Granted that is a very short list, but that is beside the point. Here's hopin that Bill can pull it off.

I just saw Dead Hate the Living, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Nothing too ambitious, just a fun little zombie movie. The idea of making the main characters in a Full Moon picture horror geeks was pretty clever; chances are a good portion of people watching a Full Moon picture will immediately relate (as I did-- "You'll be the next Dick Miller!")

Makes ya glad that Dave Parker, who wrote the film, is writing House Of The Dead, eh?

No big loss, they'll be cut to shreds, if not for content, so SFC can squeeze in an extra 20 mintes of commercials per hour.

Has Bill ever been IN a Full Moon picture? Has he decided to host them, because he' s "Safe?" Just curious......

Puppet master vs demonic toys was never made so I don't really understand how they could air it. Sounds like a very strange show- a variety of full moon movies on tv, amazing. The Dead Hate the Living was a good film out of the later era of their films. Most of their films are crap but there are gems in there like the first 3 puppet master, subspecies, vampire journals, and a few others. They did their best in the early days I guess- too bad they aren't playing some of the better ones. Hope that they don't make it like a mockery of the films- although some of them are so bad they deserve it.

wow..you mean they actually released 'Shrunken Heads"? I remember watching the trailer on one of the puppet master sequels and thinking "they have got to be kidding"..three young boys become local heroes by getting their heads shrunk by a voodoo guru and then take revenge against the local bad guys by flying through the air and biting people. well.. something like that....now we can watch it without paying to see it.....I still think I'll pass on that one.
