Can you identify this stupid movie?

I realize this is probably a long shot but here goes....

I've been trying for years to find the title of this really strange, really stupid Sci-Fi / Horror film that I saw when I was a kid.  It was one of those low budget types with no-name actors and I think it was a British production (I seem to recall all the actors having British accents anyway).  I saw it on one of those Saturday afternoon movie matinees on TV, which typically showcased lousy, B- (or C- or D-) movies for our youthful viewing pleasure. It was sometime in the 1970-75 timeframe that I saw this movie, although I think it was made in the 1960's.

Unfortunately, I don't remember too much about the movie. All I really remember are the creatures. They basically looked like, well, old-fashioned vacuum cleaners (versus the modern upright types). They had bodies that shaped like a turtle, no legs (I think they slid along the ground); they had long, snakelike necks which the moved around like a dancing cobra.

Here's the kicker: whenever they were killed (by a gun or cannon or?) their guts would pour out. Except the guts looked exactly like CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP!

My childhood recollection of the entire movie is very vague, but I do remember one particular scene where one of these creatures is sliding down the windshield of a car, covering it with slime (and maybe a bit of chicken noodle soup too). Of course, the passengers inside the car were screaming in terror, as I was laughing my ass off watching it on TV.

I know this movie sounds really, really stupid and bad but I know it exists. It isn't a figment of my imagination.

Anyone have any idea what it's called? God, I'd give anything to see it again, watching it again after so many years (accompanied by beer of course).

Thanks!

Cheers,
Matt

That definitely sounds like the 1966 Peter Cushing movie "Island Of Terror",where one of the creatures tightly wraps its tentacles around Peter's hand, forcing him to let his friend hack it off(the hand)with an axe.
And,it definitely wasn't(and still isn't)a stupid movie to me,since this film has its fair share of gruesome deaths, and is thoughly entertaining in my book.

Callysto

The movie you describe also sounds a lot like a movie I have in my video collection called Creepers that was directed by Terence Fisher. This movie has Peter Cushing in it as well. The creatures would suck out the calcium in the body and leave a pile of goo like stuff behind. I remember that they would reproduce by splitting themselves in half.

Ah-HA!  Both Callysto and Steven are right, unless I miss my guess.  It is Island Of Terror AKA Creeper.  Not one of Terence Fisher's better films (or Cushing's for that matter) but not the worse.  I kind of liked it.

Cullen - Super Genius, Novelist, and all in all Great Guy.

Make it 4 for 4. I remember the Chick noodle soup guts, too. But, they had to get radioactive stuff into the monsters, so they made some glow in the dark moo cows. That movie scared me crapless! One of the "Leave the lights on, mom" type. Saw it at the drive-in with my folks. Mom hated it, of corse.

I think it was Island of Terror with Peter Cushing...
