Okay, we've talked about lame sequels, how about ones that were as good or better than the original-

Blade II- An all-around tighter movie than the first, with a nice mix of horror and action and Guillermo Del Toro's top-notch direction.

Halloween 2- Not quite as good as the first, but still a good movie.

The Empire Strikes Back- Darker, deeper and bigger than Star Wars.

Nominations for debate:

The Road Warrior
Aliens
Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan

I agree with all so far
But here are a few for me

Superman 2
Evil Dead 2-can't stand the series but this was easier to watch
If God is watching us, the least we can do is be
entertaining.

excuse me? my rage is growing, why the, h-how could you even say something like that, t-thats horrible, sir i hate you and everything you stand for, well not really just kinda angry you can say that. what the hell is wrong with the ed trilogy? give me one reason you dont like the movies. oh and blade 2 was not as good and the first come on.

Wait...someone actively posting on THIS board can't stand the Evil Dead series?

Terminator 2- Still one of the best action movies ever, and it doesn't scream 80's like the original.

The Care Bears Movie 2- The Care Bears are explored more deeply and the villain is much better than the original's.

Toy Story 2- Just as good as the first, both of them being good films to adults and kids.

im still p**sed about the evil dead thing but, i think for a few dollars more was better than a fist full of dollars, i know you guys might think clint is boring but hes not.

Cullen

I've always prefered Bride of Frankenstien over Frankenstien

Cullen - Super Genius, Novelist, and all in all Great Guy.

I didn't find them entertaining at all
I found them borring
Sorry just not my thing
My wife on the other hand loves them

Call me crazy, but I've always preferred Son of Frankenstein over the first two. Bela gives one of the best performances of his career as Ygor, Boris is great as always as the monster, Basil Rathbone is hilarious (intentionally, I believe) as the testy doctor, plus it's got the wooden-armed inspector. If only it had Dwight Frye, it'd be among my favorites of all time.

Speaking of sequels, anyone know when Blood Feast 2 comes out?

Phantosmos

Sequels that topped the original film?  I can name a scant few:

The Road Warrior
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Aliens
Evil Dead 2

I cannot say Empire Strikes Back, partially because it is not a sequel but part of a planned trilogy, but also because I think both Star Wars and Empire were equally brilliant.  I would say Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, but for some reason the first film seems to move me more than the sequel.

ErikJ, you'll have an easier time here if you admit the ED series is magnificent. When in Rome, you dig?

And yes, Blade II is superior to Blade. You''re just p**sed, Josh, because the virus in the plot hits too close to home, what with you having AIDS and all. But seriously, Stephen Dorff wasn't much of a demon, and the Blood God was a pushover, and the CGI was pretty crappy.

I agree with a lot of your guys' picks. Here are some actually "bad" movie picks of mine....

Slumber Party Massacre II: Hilarious dialogue, driller killer musical number, the guitar/drill, all-girl 80s band, this one has it all.

Sorority House Massacre II: The first one was awful, but this one has girls taking turns in the shower, the crazy fat guy who WILL NOT DIE, and killer lines.

Deathstalker II: Jim Wynorski and John Terlesky make this one funny as hell, and Polish too....

Dawn of the Dead: Surprised no one's said it....Love the original, but Dawn is the artistic apex of Romero's career in my opinion...

Leprechaun in the Hood: Well, it's not hard to be at the top of that series. Worth watching just to see Ice-T's Swiss Army Afro.

Return of the Living Dead III: Now don't get me wrong, the first one is awesome, but I think Brian Yuzna did some really cool artistic stuff in this one....exploring love as a destructive force....plus the zombie chick got awful hot when she put all the metal in her body....maybe that reveals a personal fetish, but oh well....

Silent Night, Deadly Night IV: Well, maybe not better than the original, but Brian Yuzna kicked some ass with this one too.

Friday the 13th IV: Say what you will, I contend this was the best of the series. Crispin Glover!

Bride of Chucky: Yeah, it's another tongue-in-cheek self-referential horror flick, but it's well done, and better than the first in many ways....

American Ninja 2: Okay, it's terrible, but so's the first one, and part 2 has MUTANT KILLER NINJAS. That's cool.

Will

OH yeah, and:

Waxwork II: Waaay better than the first, funny and with Bruce Campbell.

A Very Brady Sequel: As kick-ass funny as the first Brady Bunch movie was, the sequel is even funnier. "Oh NO! I'm tripping with the Bradys!"

The Curse 2: The Bite: This has nothing to do with the original, but it's not hard to be better. This one gets major gross points for the snake arm.

No way, you did not say that. i dont have aids and if i did that would be a low blow man. A LOW BLOW. blade was more in depth and dark, 2 had no story it was all action, good action mind you, but still that gets repetative, and i dont really care about special effects it the story and actors that matter. and no way nomak was a better villan for one thing he has like 6 lines because of all of the pointless action, example: when the bloodpack comes to give blade a message they fight for an hour, before they say they are they to make peace.

Fearless Freep

I would say Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, but for some reason the first film seems to move me more than the sequel.

"Star Trek: The Motionless Picture"???
