This week I was in a music store that my friend works at and something caught my eye, a green dvd tucked away in the corner. What could this be I thought? So I plucked it up and lo and behold its the ReAnimator Millenium Edition Elite DVD. I have to admit I've never seen the film, so a 50$ dvd for a movie I've never seen seemed dodgy. But after 10 min of thinking hard I decided that I've heard so much about it and how its supposed to be a must see so I plunked the money down. I've watched the TV spots, some of the interviews and the trailers on the disc and have to say I think its gonna rock. I haven't gotten time to watch the movie yet but in the next few days I'll definatly check it out and tell you all what I think. What is everyone elses thoughts on it? I know its been talked about alot on this board but do you think I made a worthy investment?

Yep.  I bought it and I owned the Elite Laserdisc (which was a hell of a lot more expensive) before it.  Looking back on 80's undead horror, this is one of the best along with Evil Dead 1 & 2, and Return of the Living Dead.  It's a necessity to own along with food, water and shelter (slightly above shelter).

It's a perfect DVD release for a great movie. Definitely pick it up.

Hopefully that's a misprint. You didn't pay $50 for that DVD did you? Thats like £35.

I don't think its even listed as high as $50 maybe $30 tops (that's the price at suncoast and they charge top dollar for almost everything.) I've seen it for $20 but have the older dvd which is really just fine but I would like to have the newer edition.

I payed 47.99 + tax, in CANADIAN dollars.
thats probably why you think it was so expensive.

The anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1, audio commentaries from Stuart Gordon and performers Bruce Abbott, Jeffrey Combs, Robert Sampson, and Barbara Crampton, deleted scenes, new interviews, etc. What more could you ask for?

The best part of the disk is the interview with music composer Richard Band. As if that's not enough, the disk also has an isolated music score of Band's composings for RE-ANIMATOR! Why isn't this guy getting mainstream offers?

Said it before, say it again: Jeffrey Combs is one of the coolest working actors out there, and this movie is is finest hour (though I think he's even better in the Frighteners, but Dr. West is a much more meaty part).

Plus, the "head" scene is one of the most just-plain-wrong moments in movie history.

Call me sick, but I was always disappointed that she got one arm free and was able to hold him off. :)
