First a movie; it's about a woman in a small town who is raped and then she kills her attackers one by one. I know what you're thinking, but it's not I Spit on Your Grave. This one came out in the mid 80's or so and the woman is raped in her home. I believe one of the killing involves a rowboat. I'm not positive, but I think the guy couldn't swim so she got him in a boat with a hole in it and them pushed it out into deeper water on a lake.

Also, I know this is a huge longshot, but many years ago (probably late 70's or early 80's) I checked a book of ghost/horror stories out of the school library, but I only remember one story from it. The host of a radio show plans a broadcast from a supposedly haunted house and while his crew waits outside, he goes inside alone with a microphone and handcuffs himself to the bed, vowing to spend the night. Of course it ends with his being attacked by something while the people outside listen. I think he started describing a creature that then becomes real. Tales from the Crypt did a very similar episode with Morton Downey Jr. as a tabloid TV host doing a show from a haunted house. Anyone ever read this?

Never seen it, but the first one could be Ms. 45. Was the lady mute?

Unfortunately, "revenge on rapists" was a well-populated genre in the '70's -- unfortunate mainly because most of them weren't very good.

 Nope, not Ms. 45.

Well, most likely, this was made in the 80's. I recall it looking fairly modern at the time I saw it, not dated like most 70's movies.

Last House on the Left maybe?

John

>Last House on the Left maybe?

Nope. Definitely not any of the famous 1970's rape/revenge movies. This was some cheap knockoff. I don't even recall there being much nudity or gore in it.

The Hills Have Eyes?  (No wait, that wouldn't be it.)

Not sure about the movie, but I did read the story about the DJ when I was a kid.  I can't remember the title of it, but I think it was one of those "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" books (I was into those when I was a kid).  Hope this helps.

I don't think that was it. I wasn't into Alfred Hitchcock back then and this story was more of a horror/monster story than a thriller.

>Naked Vengence, 1985?

I don't think so. All the descriptions I found for this mention her parents and husband being killed and her being left for dead and I don't remember anything like that in the movie I saw. Also, one site said it took place in an urban setting, but this one was set in a small town. I also found a page listing movies with rape scenes, but none of them sounded like the movie I saw.

Could the film be "Steel and Lace?"  It is a bit like "Deadly Friend," but with rape.

Try these two sites for starters on your short story.  The first credits the original story to William Gaines.

Nope, I've seen Steel and Lace and that's not it. No SciFi or horror elements in the movie I'm thinking of.

Well, I tried a few searches, but came up empty. Either there's not much info on the net about what he's written himself, or my research skills suck. or a combination of the two. Every search turns up dozens of matches for his comic work, MAD magazine etc, but I couldn't find anything on any short stories he might have written. Thanks anyway.
