human fueled car

This has become a quest of mine.... I saw a movie years ago, maybe 20 years ago. I have searched the net and asked my cousins who are responsible for showing it to me but with no luck.. So if any one can help me it would be great ...

Anyway, I don't remember much I was only young but  the movie had a silver car in it with some family, the car ran on human bodies and near the end they run out of fuel and there in a desert somewhere and the kid turns around and asks "what do we do now" or something like that...

 well that's about it. I think I remember other parts but it could be wrong and could confuse the issue.
