I had a memory of watching the first film late one night on cable with my mom and sister about 10 or so years ago.  Seemed kinda creepy and had an interesting story.  Only caught about the last half or so of it though.  Rented it a few weeks ago and found it to be kinda on this side of alright.  Interesting story, bad acting, and bad special effects(mainly the scenes involving Belial).  I just finished up watching part 2 for the first time.  Wow, what a movie.  Acting was still on a low level, although slightly better than the first for some of the characters.  Belial looked much better than he did in the first movie.  Duane, main character of the first film and this one, aged about ten years in what was supposed to be just a few days after the events that happened in the first film.  The freaks were an interesting part of the story, but the last 10min. of the film were my favorite.  I loved how Duane freaked out, shoved the woman out of the window, and attacked Belial, who was getting it on with another detached siamese twin at the time(one of the oddest things I'd ever seen) and sewed him back to side of his body.

Or as my friend liked to call it, "head sex".

                     On a scale of 1 to 10,I rated it a 9 and a 1/2.
Otherwise, the monster sex scene was incredible(for a monster sex scene, being that it's with Belial and Eve),and I just hope that Frank Hennenlotter, who's now returning to filmmaking with "Sick In The Head"(a "Brain Damage"-esque film that Fangoria will co-produce)gets off his rear, and films the dang fourth mis-adevntures of Belial and Duane(since it's been too long, with Granny Ruth plotting to steal the Belial babies, and Duane going more insane by the minute).

Don't hold your breath, Hennenlotter has made no secret about the fact that he didn't even want to make Basket Case 2 (he made it so he could do Frankenhooker), much less Basket Case 3 (which he flat out hated doing).  The only way he would consider making another sequel is if a funder says "I'll give you money to make this new movie, but you have to make a Basket Cast sequel as well."  He states again and again he is bored with Duane and Belial and cannot think of anything interesting to do with them.

What I find most ironic is the under current of grumbling from fans who, while continually bad mouthing sequels and remakes, say..."It's great that so and so made such and such but when will s/he go back to his/her roots and make...fill in blank with...a) Evil Dead 4, b) Bad Taste 2, c) Dusk/Twilight of the Dead, and so on and so forth.  The irony is just hilarious.  At least Hennenlotter is working, for that at least we can all be thankful.
