Ok, this is very odd, but last night I've seen "Night Train to Terror" a movie that I picked up from a 10 DVD box set for under 20 dollars. So I knew that these movies are not the greatest, but as a bad movie fan, its fun to get such a collection very cheap!

But I do like to talk about this movie "Night Train to Terror" because it kept me up to 1:30 in the morning.

The movie is about God and Satan on a train debating the souls of 3 different people, or so what it seems. And so we get to see 3 mini stories about those characters... So as you can see this has the making of a fine bad movie...

As for the first two stories, I was half watching... but the last story did cought my eye...

The story is title "The Case of Claire Hansen"

Its an odd story about a writer that writes a book call "God is Dead" and an SS Nazi Officer that happens to be a demon.

After a few seconds I know this was a compress verson of the movie "Shiver."

Shiver is a VHS movie that I picked up a few years ago and its one of those movies that I would play at night before I fall asleep... so I could say I've seen this movie about 20 to 30 times. Its a fun movie with lots of nothing happening and with many bad edits that broken up story lines that just dont add up.

Ok, a compressed verson of a bad 87 minute movie would be fun to watch. So I watched the whole thing.

The edits were really bad, and you know that this movie was compressed to 30 minutes long, but what kept me watching the movie is that the material in the movie happens to be different compaired to the movie "Shiver"

How different?

There were parts in the story that seems to be edited out from the movie, and then there were special effects...

This compress story had more special effects then the movie. Very odd.

And the most oddest thing from the compress verson compaired to the movie is that You get more information from the compress verson to the movie.

Like the ending in movie Shiver never really made any sense and I took it as bad script writing... only to find out that this is explained in the compress verson because it was edited out. Odd I tell you.

Sure enough this kept me up almost all night.

What puzzles me is that the missing content would make the movie a little better to watch... Stop motion Demons, gore effects, why the story ends in at the operation table... Odd.

Sure the movie was still bad (the female lead actress couldnt act herself out of a paper bag) , and the special effects werent top of the line either...

But to edit out the special effects from the movie was very odd.

Ok, if somebody is intrested to check both movies out:

Move:  Shiver (I think around 1977 to 1980... my gut tells me 1978)
Directed by: Tom McGowin, Greg Tallas, and Phillip Makshak
Star: Charles Moll (is this Richard Moll with hair???) as James Hansen

(I would like to know if there was a complete verson of this movie that has the full story line and all special effects from the compress version of the story)

Movie: Night Train to Terror (1985)
Forget to write the directors name... But I'll lits the short stories, Which I think all three stories are compressed movies for this bad turkey.

Short story 1... The Case of Harry Billings (also has Charles Moll, looking more like Richard Moll)
Directed by John Carr

Short story 2... The Case of Gretta Connors
Directed by John Carr

Short story 3... The Case of Claire Hansen
Directed by Tom McGowin, Greg Tallas, and Phillip Makshak
Star: Charles Moll as James Hansen

And I do have a few other questions to add...

Is Charles Moll and Richard Moll the same people or are they brothers?

Is there a complete movie to Shiver or does it has another name that is complete?

Are those other movies in Night Train to Terror are also compress stories?

Did anybody ever seen anything similar to this... A movie compressed to fit into another movie?

I know I have seen several "Unfinished films" that were finshed by adding extra footage that wasnt part of the movie... This would be true I guess for this one, but its very odd that I have an 87 minute movie and a 30 minute compress film that seems to have at least 15 minutes of additional footage... (I wounder if I should combinded both movies together)

Thanks... :D

Cool... using the net I've seem to find some of my answers...

Charles Moll is Richard Moll...

Also the name of the movie Shiver seems to be...

Cataclysm (1980-81)

but it also goes under a few other names too...

The Nightmare Never Ends (1972??? and then 1980)
(Sorry, but its hard for be to believe that this story is made before The Omen and Boys From Berzil... Even the story looks so late 1970's not early 70's)

Satan's Supper (1980)

Has anybody see those movies???

Johnny Blister

Shiver,Trains O' Souls...they all seems like Hellboy rip-offs to me.
