I'm guessing this one aired around '80...'81...or '82.

Remember when movies on HBO would be fit into a 2 hour time slot but it was only an hour and 45 minutes long?

They would put a 10 or 15 minute short film on as a filler before the next feature.
They still do this on some channels but not as frequently as they used to.

I remember one set in a projector room of sorts and the actual reel of film came alive!
It spun off it's metal reel and fell into a big pile of film on the floor....kinda like The Blob.

It then proceeds to devour the terrified film technician!

It was all stop motion.

Does anyone remember this and if so.....what's the title?

I remember that!  Some guy shows up to some doctor's office for a job interview and is attacked by a spool of what looks like audio tape (some horrid experiment gone wrong, naturally), hilarious, yet freaky.  Dude fights it off with a giant magnet.  It creeped me out when I first saw it way back when in...1980?  81? 82  Wait, Escape from New York was HBOnly, so it must have been 82.

Sadly, I don't remember the title either.

That's right!

I forgot about him using the magnet.

I was thinking it was film but maybe it was audio tape.

Didn't it shriek and cower away from him when he put the magnet near it?

Chadzilla

Yeah.  Then he put it down to unluck the door and whoosh...right up under the rug and that's all she wrote.  Is it available on video, does anybody know?  Great little short subject.

I remember it too. In fact, I think I even posted here asking about it. Never did find out the title. I used to love when they'd show short films. That was where I first saw Hardware Wars and Closet Cases of the Nerd Kind.

I have looked and looked and looked and can't seem to find the title.

I've used every resource I could think of.

I finally sent an e-mail to HBO asking them if they could provide the title.

Hopefully they'll be able to give it to me.

If they do I'll definitely post it on here.

Maybe you'll have better luck, but it's been my experience that HBO *NEVER* answers email.

What would be the best phrases or words to use when searching for this one on say Google for example?

I've used at least 5 or 6 different variations on multiple search engines and turned up nothing.

I found Clipland.com to be rewarding for odd titles, if you care to browse for a while.

Some people like cupcakes better--I for one care less for them
