So, how about them DVDs?

Everyone always talks about what DVDs they bought over the weekend.  While I myself am a fan of talking about additions to the collection and purchased a Cradle of Filth DVD just yesterday, let's talk about OTHER stuff we buy for a change.  What's some of the coolest, rarest, or strangest s**t you've ever dropped coin on?  Real Dolls?  Hookers?  Signed underwear?  Especially hookers, for some reason I really want to know if anyone here has ever purchased some lovin'.
Unfortunately I don't have much cool or rare stuff that someone else couldn't say they had too.  A few ltd. Godzilla figures and some autographed Doctor Who stuff (Christ I'm a f**king dweeb), and a personalized guitar pick from Monty Colvin of the Galactic Cowboys (which I didn't buy, he just gave it to me, so it really doesn't count).  So, let the confessions begin!

My most outlandish purchase was when I paid $250.02 for an ultra-rare hockey puck on ebay...I was quite remorseful immediately afterwards but I now have absolutely no regrets...yes it is THAT rare.

The Burgomaster

I spent a lot of money on comic books over a 2 year period. My largest single purchase was Amazing Spider-Man #1. I paid around $1,100 for it.

I ended up with some great runs. I had every issue of Spider-Man from #1 through #201, plus many issues higher than #201.

I also had Avengers #1 - #170, plus miscellaneous higher issues; Iron Man #1 - #130, plus some higher issues; Daredevil #1 - #130, plus some higher issues; most of the Captain America issues from #100 - #200, plus some higher issues; quite a few issues of Tales of Suspense (including #39 - the 1st appearance of Iron Man!); plus hundreds of Fantastic Four, X-Men, Thor, Werewolf by Night, etc.

I've been selling my collection on Ebay. My biggest sale so far was Daredevil #1. I sold it just before the movie came out for a little over $500. I had purchased it for about $325 only a year before (a nice little profit).

I just sent some out to CGC to be graded. The ones I sent were Amazing Spider-Man #1, #3, #11 and #12, and Tales of Suspense #39 and #59.

Anyway . . . thst's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Where in the hell do you work!???!?!?

I wanna find a job where I make enough to spend that much on comic books and DVDs!  It would be heaven!  Much better than this tech support job....different story.  :o)

I'm a CPA - I work in the financial consulting/forensic accounting/fraud investigation fields. I think I spend more money than I make.

I spent $88 on a mechanical singing dancing life-sized black santa from Kmart last Halloween! I was the BEST purchase I made in my life! I will never regret it! He's staying up all year round!  He's just as tall as me and when I "turn him on".. hehe.. and he dances, if I stand in front of him, his hands go up and down my sides so its like hes dancing with me and feeling me up at the same time!!  I know that's kind of sick and pathetic but it's really fun! and unlike a real boy he doesn't expect "more" later.. which doesn't mean he's not gonna get it! (God I'm sick I don't really mean that!. much) We decorated him a little more and now hes holding a pirate sword and wearing a freddy glove and a bling bling necklace!  Oh but it's really funny when he falls down and you find his head laying next to him!

I have always wanted a real doll!!!  I want to stick things in her butt and stuff! MAN! I really hope one day I'll have a real doll! i think its actually a goal in my life! Santa needs a mate!  I want a real doll that looks just like me so I can try clothes on her to see how they look! and oh i would do the funnest things with a real doll!!! like wrap fishing string around her and have her descend on unsuspecting passers-by!! id prolly need more than one pole to do that.. but thats okay! OOH@ and id walk down the street with her and see which one of us gets hit on more!!.. probably her! but thats cos shell be wearing less!  oh but now i also really want a real corpse! well not real real but fake real! i would do the same things with the corpse that i would do with the real doll though!

This past weekend in a Tower Records in Detroit  I picked up a DVD called Zombie Chronicles -- with a 2D and a 3D version, along with a Stiff Little Fingers double CD!

I have a NES POWERPAD, I thought that was great when I found it, and this cool cartridge that you put others on top of and it lets you save your game and crap. Man I'm a nerd. I haven't got too many other things and I have never really spent a large amount of money on cool things, just things like a cd player and un-interesting things like that.

I bought this as part of a 3-D three-pack, along with CAMP BLOOD and another movie (I can't remember the title right now). It came with the IMAX-style 3-D glasses and 3-D converter that connects to your television.

I thought that both CAMP BLOOD and ZOMBIE CHRONICLES were terrible (although, CAMP BLOOD had better 3-D effects). I haven't watched the 3rd movie yet, but it looks like an action/revenge movie. The main character is a woman with a crossbow.

I also bought a set of 3-D movies that has three short films that were originally shown in IMAX theaters.

They have also released NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and some other movies in 3-D versions that are compatible with the system & glasses I purchased.

Dang, mine didn't come with the glasses.  I haven't watched it yet,  Burgo, does it use a blue piece and a red piece of cellophane?

No . . . this is the IMAX type 3-D, not the old red/green type. The picture looks blurry and shaky without the glasses. The glasses have some sort of gray, polarized lenses. You plug them into a converter box that attaches to your TV. The box is some sort of polarization/synchronization gizmo.

Most of the 3-D effects in CAMP BLOOD are pretty decent. ZOMBIE CHRONICLES tends to be a bit more blurry, which starts to induce headaches after about 30 minutes. Unfortunately, both movies are pretty bad.

There is a website that sells the converters, glasses and movies. That's where I bought mine. I can't remember the name website.

I have also seen the 3 DVD sets, including converter boxes and glasses for sale in Best Buy.

>What's some of the coolest, rarest, or strangest s**t you've ever dropped coin

Many years after it came out, I bought an Atari 7800 over the net for $22. I'd wanted one ever since I saw the previews of it in the old video game magazines. Not long after that, I also got an Atari 5200 system with about 10 games for $5.

Umm, according to what I've read/heard, Real Dolls weigh almost as much as a real person.

>i also really want a real corpse! well not real real but fake real!

That web site I told you about also offers a book on how to make your own corpses. Probably not cheap, but probably less than buying one of his finished products.

Paquita

thats why i said id need more than one pole!!
