Terminator 3 - okay, but disappointing

The Terminator series has lost its magic. T3 is okay (and by "okay," I mean it grades out at about a "B -" or a "C +") for summer escapist entertainment. But this is SURELY not the movie we have been waiting for. The best action scene is the first truck chase . . . the rest of the movie pales in comparison. Arnold's "cute" phrases ("She'll be back," etc.) are forced and tired, and Linda Hamilton's presence is sorely missed. I can forgive the film for its HUGE coincidences and plot holes, but I cannot forgive it for being so "average."

I guess I was also expecting a longer film, with a more involved plot. I was in and out of the theater in exactly 2 hours, and that included about 4 coming attractions before the movie started. So, I'm guessing that the movie clocks in at about an hour and forty-five minutes (not including the end credits, which probably go on for about 10 minutes).

If you have a couple of hours to kill, you might want to see this. But I don't recommend that you RUSH out to see it.

T3 is okay for summer escapist entertainment.

Keep in mind that that's just about all T1 was really targetted at either.  It just happened to hit a magic combination of qualities that worked at the time it was released so it ended up being more than was expected.  It can be awfully hard to duplicate the resutls of an accident, especially when you are expected to

I agree, but T1 and T2 were far better than T3.

T3 is like GODFATHER III and ALIEN 3 . . . it just doesn't have the magic of its predecessors.

T-X died too easily too and she was suppose to be more advanced, she wasnt' as scary as T-1000 or Arnold in T1, for some reason. The fights didn't have much suspense, that's the only flaw I could see in the movie. I liked the story which made the movie okay..just okay, I'd give it a B.

I swear...you guys are cool but you super-psychoanalyze films so much and try to find fault in every single small detail that you take all the fun out of it!

I loved the film and find it superior to T2....but not T1.

Yeah, the action scenes are extreme overkill(anything to attempt to out-do James cameron),and it lacks the sensibility of Cameron's earlier efforts, but it's still an entertaining summer film, with a surpirse ending that comes out of nowhere(and changes the pace of the whole film),and sets up a completely different, more expensive tone for T4.

I don't think that's entirely true . . . T1 and T2 also had flaws, but they were far superior. My major point is that T3 had a strong foundation to build upon, but blew it. It is not the summer blockbuster that it should be. They had plenty of time to produce it after T2, so it should be a very polished film. It isn't. My prediction is that it will suffer the same fate as THE HULK. It will have a strong opening weekend, but ticket sales will drop off dramatically the following week.
