60's movie or series

I remember a movie or show that really spooked me and I want to know what it was so I can confront my fear. These creepy feather covered lampshade-like creatures would fly around and drop down over peoples heads and when they came back up,the persons eyeballs would be all white.They sounded like sirens.Please help.Thanks.

You are close... very close... to describing a movie called Not of This Earth (1957), which, as you probably know, has been remade a couple of times.  The lampshade monster belonged to an alien with white eyes.
