Okay, so it's yet another comic book making its debut onto the silver screen, like so many others. But this has been my favorite comic character for years. C'mon, a blind lawyer? You can't POSSIBLY have a better secret identity than that!!!

However, I honestly don't know if I liked the movie or not. While I am a comic purist, I am also a film realist. I know writers can't cram 300 issues of character development into a 90 minute film. Sometimes, I guess they have to roll the dice and hope the stuff they pick will appeal to the audiences.

Pro: I LOVED the choice of Colin Farell as Bullseye, he played it to the hilt. How can you not love a character who can turn anything and everything into a weapon?  We get pens, peanuts, paper clips and a pierced pimento! 'Nuff said.

Con: Why make Bullseye a growling Irishman? This probably turned a few folks off.

Pro: I was pleasantly surprised in Ben Affleck's portrayal of Daredevil, to be honest. The origin scene was just long enough, and his staring into space whenever his glasses were removed was a nice touch.

Con: I thought the whole "sensory deprivation tank" stuff was unnecessary, and the rapists' death didn't sit well with me.. This made Daredevil look less like a hero and more like the bullies who tormented him in the start of the film!

Pro: Jennifer Garner as Elektra! if you don't know why this is a pro, I pity ya...

Con: Not enough screen time! We barely get a chance to see her in action before Bullseye gets stabby.

Pro: Michael Clarke Duncan's sheer physical presence made him the Kingpin, through and through. and no, it doesn't matter what color the Kingpin is!

Con: I don't think this movie explored the soulless side of the Kingpin at all. While in the comics he could simply say a word and have a witness' legs broken or crush the neck of a lesser employee at a board meeting, we never got to see any of that. He just smoked cigars and lived large.

On the whole? I could pick out the comic dialogue they borrowed from issues of Daredevil comics. I know the writers borrowed VERY HEAVILY from the "Born Again" saga, and the CGI fighting and wall-jumping did get a little old.

But then again, I do own it, and I will probably see/purchase the eventual sequels.

But enough of my thoughts - what did the rest of you think?

I enjoyed it.

My only complaint was that there were too many cuts/shots in a few of the fight scenes and they were very poorly lit.

I had to go back and re-watch a couple of them just to make sure I saw it all.

And while Jennifer Garner is beautiful and was good as Elektra...I just kept thinking that it would suck to be headbutted by her!  I could not take my eyes off of her bony forehead!

Garner has actually poked fun at herself on Conan O'Brien about her big forehead.

Bullseye stole the show though....I found myself wanting to see more scenes with him in it.

I can say that I would definitely recommend this film.

I liked it better than Spider-man which is amazing considering (a) I LOVED Spider-man and (b) I was never a Daredevil fan.

I only have three problems with the movie.

The first is the CGI.  It's used a bit too often for my tastes.   Some of the scenes couldn't have been done without them - I understand that - but I think a bit less on the effects would have added a bit.

The second is that Daredevil is seen doing too many Spider-man like leaps and landings.  I could be wrong (probably am) but I thought he was closer to Bat Man strength than that.  Of the three, this one bothers me the least, but still...

The third is that, after the origin is out of the way, it rushes from point to point.  I could give examples, but I don't want to delve into spoliers (despite the warning on this thread).

None of these problems exist as anything more than minor grips.   Daredevil is one of the best superhero movies ever, and it is the best this year.

(Small note - haven't seen X-Men 2 yet.)

Ben Affleck wasn't in it! His character was so wooden, so unmoving, and so uninteresting that I wouldn't be suprised that they hired him to be in it because of him and Jennifer Lopez getting together (oh wait, that was the reason). His character that he played reminded me of another box office bomb that he was in: PEARL HARBOR! And brother, DAREDEVIL takes the freakin' cake! The man isn't a good actor at all. Hell, he is not even average! Jennifer Garner was able to save half of the film, but only halfway and then that was it.

Sorry for the small rant, but my God was Affleck really terrible in it. Can't wait to laugh at the upcoming Affleck-Lopez film GIGLI.

I remember seeing this the first time with my son in the theater. We were both borred out of our mids and the story made no sense at all. Then we fast forward a few weeks to when X-2 opened up. The local drive-in have a double feature of X-2 followed by Daredevil. I really wanted to see X-2, so when my brother and sister in law invited me to go along I jumped at it. I figured I could crash in the back of the car when Daredevil came on or at least hope they would see how bad it was and drive away.

Well I stayed awake and I really enjoyed it. There were scenes that I never saw the first time(I think the local theater cut some scenes so they could fit in more showings, the money hungry bastards). With the added clips it made a lot more sense this time. I enjoyed it so much we bought the DVD. I don't  recommend it for all but it really is a good time film.

If God is watching us, the least we can do is be
entertaining.

I enjoyed Daredevil, especially Bullseye, that was cool how he could kill with a paperclip.

The only thing that kind of troubled me about the film was the final cronfrontation with Kingpin and Daredevil, I didn't feel much merciless hatred towards the two characters. It wasn't much of a high impact fight.

The movie was really close to the  Daredevil:Bullseye mini series written by Kevin Smith, which only had one issue cause Kevin Smith got busy.

Other than that, the movie was good, I liked it as much as I liked Spider-Man. Daredevil was way more better than Hulk too.
