DARK SKIES just played on an Encore Channel today. I've never heard of it till today. What I found out about it was that it was a mid-90's TV series. I enjoyed it better than most of the X- FILES episodes.  Iiked the scenes from Wyoming and the whole approach of the alien subject, better than the dark sets of X-FILES. Also the aliens in DARK SKIES were effective and creepy. What channel did it play on?

The same comparison can be made between the original STAR TREK and all the new versions of STAR TREK.

Wasn't that the series where aliens were suppose to be involved with key events in history?  I believe it ran on NBC.  The original premise was made to sound interesting and then the show became silly.  I vaguely remember the Howard Hughes episode that supposedly tied in his late paranoia with aliens.

Then they did shows like aliens attempting to take over Earth by encoding the broadcast of the Beatles appearance on Ed Sullivan.  Thank God the series ended before the Nixon Oval Office tape gaps were revealed to have alien references.

The original premise was to focus on non-key events and show how they affected the course of history in subtle ways.  There was nothing subtle about this series by the fifth episode.

I remember watching the premier episode which was aired as a two hour film.  I don't remember a whole lot otherwise.  I think there was something about the aliens taking over the body by entering through the mouth.  Am I correct in this memory?

I also remember something about JFK being murded due to alien conspiracy.  Would really like to see it again.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

The bad aliens were parasites that took over the person they infested. I thought this was an interesting twist because the gray aliens were also victims. It did sort of degenerate as it went along.  One note about it ,  Jeri Ryan was  one on the the main characters, she played a Russian agent.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

I watched Dark Skies when it originally aired. I knew from the start that it wouldn't last. It was one of a bunch of X-Files clones, which also included the medical thriller show The Burning Zone. I agree it wasn't very subtle. From the start, all the characters were going on and on about how the greys and the parasites had a symbiotic relationship. Then it was supposed to be this big revelation that the greys were victims too, but it was obvious right from the first episode. Like most SF shows, they also felt the need to end the season on a cliffhanger, which was never resolved thanks to the show being cancelled.
