NOT!

Yesterday I met up with the http://www.stomptokyo.com">Stomp Tokyo guys at DragonCon.  One of the events was a presentation by the folks at Lucasfilm and afterwards they had a question and answer session.  I asked about a DVD for the Star Wars holiday classic and received the answer, "Not on your life."

Sat in on a session with Jeffrey Combs later, just him answering questions from about 50 or 60 people, and that was probably my favorite event of the day.

It will see a DVD release someday. I never thought 33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee -- an equally lousy yet less notorious one-shot TV Variety show -- would ever see an official release.  Rhino put it out a few years ago, and I attribute it to killing all future "Monkees Revival" pipedreams. It took almost thirty years for "Revolutions" to see the light of day -- The Holiday Special has a few more years to go.

Just wait -- someday they'll put out a DVD comp of the Droids/Ewoks cartoon shows, and they'll throw Holiday Special in as a bonus. If there's money to be made, Lucas will make it. Heck, I'm surprised he hasn't commissioned Kenner to produce a Lumpy action figure yet!
