My wife and I went to the theater Saturday night with some friends hoping to see the new Dawn Of The Dead.  It was unfortunatly sold out, so we saw Eternal Sunshine instead.

Eternal Sunshine plays out like a massive acid trip.  The story focuses on Joel (Jim Carrey) and his ex girlfriend Clementine (Kate Winslet).  After a nasty breakup, Clementine decides to have a procedure done to wipe any memory of Joel from her.  Joel finds out about this from some mutual friends and decides to have the same done to himself.

What follows is nearly an hour and a half of trippy distorted memories.  Jim Carrey is put back into his memories as the procedure is being done.  He then decides, after replaying all his memories of Clementine, to try to hide her and himself somewhere in his mind where she can't be erased.

I don't want to write much more than that and ruin the film for anyone.  It is quite an amzing movie and well worth the price of admission.  The film is a must see for anyone who is a fan of Charlie Kaufman's screenplays (Being John Malkovich, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Adaptation).  It has Kaufman's strange sense of humor and his neurotic personality intertwined perfectly with the script.  Jim Carrey seems to be a perfect copy of Kaufman throughout the film.

Overall the film is fantastic.  It is a must see for anyone who has been through a extremely bad breakup with someone they truly loved.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

I haven't seen this film yet but I did find this amusing website about the company that Carrey goes to to have that procedure done...

Be sure to check out all of the sections within it.
I especially like the printable coupons in the "promotions" section.
