any others where good preachers go bad?  I am sad to say at a loss.

Max Gardner

"Night of the Scarecrow" has a great perverted preacher.  On the other hand, check out the manga "Priest," which is just incredible and has a monumentally evil preacher as its protagonist.

Night of the Hunter (1955?) -  Robert Mitchum plays psycho preacher/convict, who bumps of Shelly Winters and torments her children in quest for missing loot. Charles Laughton's only directorial effort, surreal and creepy!! Gotta see it! After viewing, try to name all the films in which Winters meets a watery end!!

Five Card Stud (1968) - Mitchum again plays a dodgy clergymen in this old west murder mystery. Mitchum and Dean Martin investigate as each member of an ill-fated poker game meet a suspicious death. Kinda slow, not much mystery, but okay flick. Bonus...Roddy Mcdowall dies!!!

The Wrath Of God (1972) - In keeping with my Robert Mitchum as Violent Man of The Cloth theme. Mitchum poses as a tommy gun toting priest during a Latin-American revolution. Action filled spoof as Mitchum lampoons the "Steely-eyed, Man of Destiny" role he has played numerous times in many Latin-American revolution movies. Funny and brisk.

The Left Hand Of God (1955) - Bogart is a priest (or is he?) in war torn China. Swearing, two-fisted, pistol packing pontiff, goes up against evil warlord. One of Bogie's last films, not really one of his best, but still quite enjoyable.

Everyone has potentially fatal flaws, but yours involve a love of soldiers' wives, an insatiable thirst for whiskey, and the seven weak points in your left ventricle.
