OT: Are you a long time listener, first time caller? Time to chip in!

Some recent posts got me thinking...  Exactly how many people read this forum?

By now, all regulars should know or recognise people who have been posting for a while, people like Burgo, Ash, Susan etc [the list is much longer, so don't feel bad that you were left out!], but recently I've noticed a lot of new blood who pop in for a quick comment here or there.

I don't mean those with stupid points and just starting wars or whatever, but people who actually contribute to the forum.

Are we being watched by a bunch of silent viewers who don't actually make a comment [or rarely make a comment], but just read what is being said?

I'm talking about the people who read the forum but don't continually post comments and replies, and never really introduced themselves to the 'gang'.

Here is your chance to introduce yourselves:  Are you a long time listener, first time caller?

Make your mark here, and let's see who our audience really is!

The Burgomaster

I actually started out as just an observer.  When I first discovered this site, I used to come in just to read the reviews and watch the video clips.  It was probably about 6 months before I started contributing to the message board.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Hey Burgo you're not a first time caller! (Wait, neither am I) After reading the reviews of this site for two years I finally went to the message board and after a week of observing I started posting. Now I'll just back off from this topic.

Now it's time to sing the nation anthem IN AMERICA!!!

I am basically the same as daveblackeye15, I 've been reading Andrews reviews for years and I started reading the forums last year and decided to start posting.  I 'm not a first timer , but I certainly wouldn't consider myself an old veteran.

I have posted a couple of other places and quit doing so because people were so discourteous. I have seen a couple of pretty good flames started here, but nowhere near the degree I've seen at some other boards.  People here seem to realize you can have divergent opinions without trying to trash the other guys.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

StatCat

I think I've been around since 1999.  I know I started looking at this site back in 99 or even earlier so it wasn't too long afterward that I started posting. I use to post a lot more but now I only post a few times every week maybe where I think I can chime in with something.  Actually for a real long time I wasn't even a registered user, just never took the time to do it (think the profile says it all!) I did finally a few months ago so I guess I'm official now. I have a review up here for Dawn of the Mummy (just looked at it- March 2001, didn't think it was that long ago damn 3 years already) hoping to eventually get a review I did for Psych Out  last year up here.

I'm all about interaction so it would be unthinkable to me to just sit back in the shadows and not say anything.

I suspect that there are probably hundreds if not thousands of people who read the stuff we write and never utter a peep on here.
To me, that is truly strange.

I often wonder why so many people are like that.

Oh well...

You're right daveblackeye15, it should be first time posters posting here, not us regulars (or semi-regulars).  I didn't start posting here until I'd visited the website for about a year, reading reviews and the like.

That's another thing I don't get...
When I first visited this site I read a few reviews and then went straight to the message board.
I visited the message board and wrote something on it within 1 hour of entering this site for the first time.

Waiting 6 months to a year to post on the board!!!?
That is something I will never understand.

ED

Well, I was a review reader since 2000 or so, and in the last few months I started to   peruse the boards and if I see something where I can contribute, I do so.    This is one of my favorite all time sites, and I wanted to share in the full fun.

Oh wait....

Because at first all I was really interested in was the reviews.

I think I've been posting on this forum for approximately 2 years, my post count would be higher but I'm part of the old school before there was registration on the board. Yeah, I have no life.

i have to agree. ive been here for a couple of months now and this the only place that i go to regularly to post. other sites i go to the boards are just immature and just fillled with flames.

I've been posting since about Feb of this year. I found this site by accident and now I don't know how I ever got along without it.

There was registration?  I must've missed that possibly.  Damn, now i'll get stuck in the crappy sections, like ballet...

I found this site looking for wav files for some movies, and gradually made my way through the site to the forum.  I didn't post straight away, because I didn't find anything that struck my fancy straight on, but I did eventually.  In my haste to post I didn't even come up with an original nickname, how dull...

Anyway, I was hoping that we'd get more 'unknowns' posting here just to let us know they exist: with the exception of Gus [hello by the way] I recognise the other names so far.

There's no need to comment, just say hi, don't be shy!  And if you're worrying about a good nickname, just look at mine; it's nothing special.  Initials will do just fine!

Come on people!!!!!  Drop us a line, then slip on back to anonymity!
