Has anyone seen this?  I'm very hesitant because it looks VERY different than the Asimov stories and I've heard it described as a "loose adaptation" only.  I think it might p**s me off to see his vision butchered.

HOWEVER

If anyone has read Asimov AND seen the movie, let me know what you think.  Maybe I'm way off base, but I don't want to spend $11 on seeing it until I have the opinion of someone other than a critic.

Any help would be appreciated.

Saw it last night. Was pleasantly surprised. While it's true that the movie only claims to be inspired by Asimov's book, it does cover many of the same ideas, and the hard sf elements manage not to be overshadowed by the action. Very interesting story too. Not what I expected.

I heard this was taken from script or something someone had wriiten and they just added  Asimov's  three laws to the story. I'll probably watch it because I can get in for free, but Will Smith seems to be the wrong casting for a story like this.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Will smith has to be in at least one sci-fi blockbuster each for the studios to make some money. He's essentially the same guy in every film. I can live without this one...something about it i can't put my finger on makes me think it's gonna be a letdown.

I'll probably go see it.  I've kind of soured on Asimov over the years, so I'll just go in expecting an amusing Will Smith vs. aliens type of flick.

Will Smith vs. aliens type of flick.
