Dont know which mods cleared out the trolls and their spamish  last night but thank you. Seriously these trouble making jerks were banned right? right?

save the world, kill a politician or two.

I killed the posts but I don't know how to ban anybody and I don't think that moderators are allowed to do that anyway.

I was also getting tired of that crap, the stupid thing aired last night and SciFi admitted it was ploy, so maybe that's the end of it.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Andrew

No banning, but it drove me nuts for a little while trying to figure out what happened that we had 400 some posts from people who had never been on the board before.  At first I thought it was a program just automatically spamming message boards (more shifty advertisement tactics - in a sense).

It turned out to be something different.  Google had indexed the bbs as the 5th result for "The Buried Secret of M. Night Shyamalan."  Scifi.com was 1 and 2 (but their forums are down) and IMDB was 3 and 4 (but it was just the entry for the hoax documentary).

So, people looking for a discussion board suddenly found here as their top choice. The flurry of postings was the result.

Google is obviously Slashdot's brother.  Maybe not a twin, but both can have the same result.

Andrew,

Well Congrats anyway that at least your forum could handle the load surge without going down.  The /. effect did not hurt you too badly.

Hmmm, maybe one or two of those posters will stick around, with some good postings.

And being number 5 on google is pretty good.

Andrew

I'm all for a high google rank, but not for something like the topic at hand.  Top of the list for "bad movies" is great, but the flood of postings about Scifi.com's farce really tries the nerves.  The one thread had over 200 posts and I know that several others had 20 or 30.

In all, there were probably over 400 posts about the darn thing in only a few hours.

Here is to hoping that one or two more thoughtful posters will come from the deluge.

It must have been some party I missed -- that's what I get for going to see a ball game.

I find it really funny that even the people that want to rid of all this shyamalan stuff, keep talking about it, and creating even more threads to comment on it...

I am one who found the site through google and wanted to see what othersthought of it, and now I understand the point many have made...enough all ready!!!

by the way, I have posted needing help for a friend that is a horror fanatic, and would like some advice on your top 5 picks.  A few of us are going to add to her collection (some all ready on the shelf...Evil Dead, Night of the Living Dead, House of a 1000 Courpses, Hell Raiser, Fright Night)

Thanks!
