Reptilian/Psycho Beach Party

I rented this movie from Block buster and found that it really wasn't good enough to be a good movie, nor bad enough to be enjoyed as a bad movie. The monster looked real enough, the acting wasn't horrendous. They lacked a strong enough plot line, it is pretty linear, to bee taken as a serious movie. Likewise it lack meaty or homurous enough dialogue to be "bad". Not a great find.

A better flick is "Psycho Beach Party". A parody of the old beach party movies, this movie is led by a perky teenage girl wishing to run with the big boys. Plenty of good lines, strange pairings, b-movie references, and a murder mystery. Coupled with a stong soundtrqack by modern surf artists, the whole package is quite entertaining. Cornball moments galore in this one. The dance scenes alone are ridiculous enough to warrent a rental.

I was about to watch my DVD of "The Terror Within" last night and happened to go channel surfing.  What do I find?  "Psycho Beach Party" (just starting) on one of the HBO channels.

Having read your comment, I decided to watch the movie and you are right - pretty darn amusing at times.  Between the goofy surfing scenes, everyone acknowledging the luau was really an orgy, and the police wo-MAN (evidently the writer, who is known for crossdressing), it was added to my "buy these DVDs" list.

PBP is quite hilarious and very amusing also.  I'll eventually get it on DVD!

I've never seen Reptillian but I've seen Psycho Beach Party. PBP rocks! The movie is so ridiculous you have to like it. I mean com'on, the goofily obvious blue-screen surfing scenes. The police chief with serious issues(plenty) and a lead chick who is insane! Even the corny stuff works when a movie has this much energy running through it. Damn, I'd like to watch it right now.
