I recently rented trilogy og terror. I guess I  had forgotten how awful this "movie" is.  The movie consists of 3 horror stories which all suck monkey nuts. I guess they only could affort to pay one broad because it the same freakin woman that stars all 3 stories - what especially cracks me up is that she is wearing different wigs, makeup etc in the various episodes -  as if the audience have not figured out that this movie is god awful - check it out it will make you p**s your pants - me and my lads were laughing our brains out

I on the other hand still really like this film.  Sure Karen Black is in it in numerous roles, but who cares?  The film is fun, and the evil little dude with the spear haunted my childhood dreams.  Great made for TV trash.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

Yeah, the little Zuni doll was a classic. Loads of fun to watch. Scared the crap out of a lot of kids in its day.

And I kind of think the point of this movie was that each story starred Karen Black. I don't think they were trying to hide it. It was kind of a showcase for her.

On a side note, is it just me, or are her eyes way too close together? Was just watching Airport 75 not too long ago, and it reminded me of this. I mean, she's supposed to be pretty, but she looks crosseyed all the time. Combined with her big, pouty lips, it makes for a pretty bizarre picture.

Trilogy of Terror may not hold up to todays standards but for it's time and the fact that it was made for TV, it was really quite good. As others said, that little doll was nasty to experience as a little kid.
And Karen Black? Yeah, she's just plain odd looking. I have never been able to put my finger on what it was about her but now that AndyC pointed it out, I will have to look next time I see her in something.

Two years ago I watched Triology of Terror and had a good time with it, I was entertained by the first two but the best ,of course, was the third story.

Now it's time to sing the nation anthem IN AMERICA!!!

That 'broad' is Karen Black; a well known and accomplished actress.

It is unfortunate that she fell into that rut. Or, then again, maybe not. She is a good actress, and there are several films in we she has had roles, that if they had nothing else going for them, at least they had her. She has entertained in good and bad movies, although the scales are definitely tipped to the bad movies.

Karen Black starring in all three tales WAS part of the "Trilogy" idea, along with all three parts being written Richard Matheson.

TOT is a classic from the heyday of TV movies, plus it's one of the few made for TV horror movies that's actually worth a damn. This was from a time before cable fragmented audiences so that huge numbers of people would actually see something like this.  I had to give the name of the movie to a guy at work who hadn't seen it since it first aired and he said it still gave him the willies thinking about it.

And the Zuni doll is a minor horror icon, creeping out people who haven't even seen the original film. The image is spooky enough for some, like stills from the original "Nosferatu".

It's not really fair to hammer Karen Black for the path her career took. She was in quality films like "Easy Rider", "Five Easy Pieces", "Day of the Locust", at least three Robert Altman films, and even Hitchcock's last (underwhelming) film "Family Plot". Hey, she's a woman who's managed to stay in the film business for over 30 years even after her fame faded, that hard to do. Is the course of her career any worse than John Carradine, Ernest Borgnine, George Kennedy, or Dean Stockwell? All have made a lot of bad films, including many loved by fans of this site.
