Does anyone know a movie about 25 years old where two lovers pretend to be brother and sister and drug an old rich woman at her mansion. She winds up being thrown over the balcony and the pair get the money only to drive away straight into a moving truck. Bob

"Paranoia" starring Caroll Baker a.k.a. "Baby-Doll".  It was made in 1969,so it is more than 25 years old obviously. One of my favorite "giallos". A "giallo" is a thriller filmed in Italy. I think giallo is Italian for the color yellow. I guess the Europeans classify movie genres according to the color/mood the movie is supposed to put you in. If you liked this flick, you may also like "Tarots" another "giallo" with Sue Lyon, the original "Lolita".

Giallo refers to the cheap yellow paper pulp fiction was printed on in Italy. The term just kinda stuck as the genre switched mediums. At least so I've heard.

Actually, giallo referred to the yellow covers of paperback mystery novels which were popular in Italy during the 60's and 70's. The masked, gloved killer was a staple of giallo, as was a seedy, voyeuristic tone, but certainly not the definition as giallo, in writing and film, incorporated various mystery themes. Giallo movies did influence the later slasher movies which would become so popular in the states. Any similarity ended there.

Steve, I just checked out Paranoia also titled A quiet place to kill and A beutiful place to kill. This is not the movie I was talking about. In the movie I am talking about, the girls car breaks down and she enters and old ladies estate. Then she makes believe her brother (her boyfriend) is coming to meet her. Together, they drug the old lady in order to get her money. In the end they have an accomplice kill her and get her money. As they leave the estate they run into a moving truck and get killed. I was almost sure Silvia Syndey was the old lady, but I have checked all her movies on the internet and it isn't listed. I was sure it was her as I saw her in Blood on the Sun with James Cagney along with other films so I thought I recognized the character as her. Any ideas? Bob

Bob. Click on this link. The movie I thought you were referring to is called "Paranoia" with Caroll Baker. It's original title in Italian is "Orgasmo". I think the movie you picked up recently is another  movie starring Caroll Baker called "Paranoia" which went by another title: "A Quiet Place to Kill". I saw "Paranoia" a.k.a "Orgasmo" but never saw "Paranoia" a.k.a. "A Quiet Place to Kill". Caroll Baker herself expressed confusion over these movies in her auto-biography, and was upset that at least 2-3 movies that she filmed in Europe in the late 60's were all retitled "Paranoia" when they reached the States.

I hope I was able to help you, and not confuse you further. Good luck with your movie search!

Sincerely,Steve.
