wew! i must say! this has to be right up there, or errr down there, with mst doozies such as Manos. truly a horrible movie that not even the bots could save.

basically this Mst'ed movie was your standard Italian produced Hercules spinoff complete with a robot that apparently communicated to people through it's coffee-can head, the bad ass hercules himself, an oppressed people (elegantly filmed through some of the most boring sandstorm scenes i've seen in any movie), and an evil queen.

the only thing that kept my interest during this film were the hot Italian ladies who at their prime probably coulda looked good through a super 8 camera made out of a shoe-box.

i think i reorganized my dvd's during the last 30 minutes of it, anyone else seen it?

nobody

I've seen the MST3K-ed version of this film myself. It's part of the volume 7 DVD box set. I actually thought the first Herc movie they tore up on that set, "Hercules Unchained", was funnier- but "Hercules VS. The Moon Men" is definitely worth a spin. That "coffee-can" headed villain is absolutely goofy on every level. And that sandstorm truly was "deep hurting."

This was the first MST3K movie I remember seeing, so I'm probably more partial to it than I should be. I once saw an un-MSTied film where two strongmen have an entire scene where all they do is toss styrofoam boulders at each other... I can't remember the name of it, but I think it's a dubbed Italian film also. Both the guy's names were in the title, something vs. someone... like a godzilla movie, but without the anonimity the rubber suit provides.

"Hi, I'm a chocolate bar, break off bits of me and enjoy me all day..."

Master Blaster

I never saw the MST3K version but I'll have to keep my eyes open for it. I found this one on $1 DVD awhile ago. A campy must see I think.

Chopper

yeah i would highly recommend the MST'ed one over the original (as i shudder). hahaha.

Everybody sing,

Oh, who's the guy and he's got big pecs and they call him Her-rc!

These movies are kind of weird, but they're amusing as well. I guess it makes one scratch their head trying to figure out why people spend so much time and effort trying to bring a legendary (In other words, FAKE) character to the big screen, only to have it come out like this. I find it amusing the guys at MST3k feel this way about every single Roger Corman film.

Scott

Actually saw the non Mystery Theater version a few months ago and I picked it up on DVD with a 50 Sci-Fi set. The set includes many Hercules movies along with Son of Hercules films. The transfers are weak, but worth a look.

Would love to view all the MST3000 shows. Only saw a few shows and the original movie MYSTERY THEATER 3000.

I was lucky, I caught it when it was not only on Comedy Central (several years back), but also on two local tv stations, playing late night. I've seen the entire Scifi channel series... something about that show is addictive, unless you're repelled by the thought of someone talking during the movie. I hope Andrew plans to put at least some of these episodes on the list someday. I always hoped MST3k would do films like "Yongary, Monster from the Deep" or Frankenhiemer's "Prophecy", but to no avail...

Favorite MST3k episode of all time: Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster
Favorite released thusfar: Prince of Space

Chopper

good idea, even though i've seen a few "famous" titles in the mst catalogue they've always seemed to stick with more obscure, z-grade stuff.

Just Plain Horse

Grade-z films are easier to mock... there's nobody saying "This is a classic! You can't mock this!" and plus the distribution rights are much, much cheaper... if you're going to do a show like MST3K, that's the affordable way to go.

Yep. I thought "This island Earth" was juuuust a bit too good for MST3K the movie. I'd have loved to see, say, "The Giant Claw" or "Beware- the blob!"

So much Z-grade riffing fodder...so little time.

"Aggressivlly eccentric, and proud of it!"

Just Plain Horse

The Giant Claw would've been perfect! Here's a few I would've loved to see:

Frankenstein Conquers the World
Prophecy
The Frozen Dead
Godzilla vs. Monster Zero
King Kong Escapes
Destroy All Planets
Dr. Terror's House of Horrors
The Manster

FYI, the Propecy just got released on dvd. i wonder how Frankenheimer feels about that film? :)

Ozzymandias

I would love to have seen them get ahold of Vampire's Coffin, Body Beneath, Rats Are Coming, Werewolves Are Here and Beat Girl (Oliver Reed's dancing, bad teenage slang and the riff from Rockefeller Skank).

He doesn't feel anything, he's dead. Doesn't smell too good either.
