Ever wondered what it would be like if Gerry and Sylvia Anderson had tried their hand at an Oriental fantasy setting. It might have resembled this Japanese/Taiwanese co-production that has just started streaming called Thunderbolt Fantasy. It uses these amazingly elaborate puppets which are a thing of beauty. Unless you think of those old-timey dolls as abominations that will steal your soul if you turn your back on them. In which case you might find them kind of creepy. The first episode won't be available to non-subscribers until Friday at 1630 EDT, but they do have a making of special that's worth checking out. A possible irritant regarding said special is that shows of that type in Japan tend to have a lot of on-screen text, so it'll be a bit cluttered.
