Hello,

Just joined the forum and excited to discuss movies. Showing off my yearly movie watching events. While I love the likes of Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, the Universal Monsters and other classic horror, I want to try to discover new films to watch on Halloween.

This is part of my yearly Halloween film selections to celebrate the holiday! These include horror, sci-fi, cult, B-Movie or Exploitation films I have never seen.

1.   The Invisible Ray (1936)
2.   The Spiral Staircase (1945)
3.   The Maze (1953)
4.   Gog (1954)
5.   Curse of the Faceless Man (1958)
6.   Frankenstein 1970 (1958)
7.   The Snake Woman (1961)
8.   The Witch's Mirror (1962)
9.   The Night Walker (1964)
10.   Strait-Jacket (1964)
11.   The Andromeda Strain (1971)
12.   Chosen Survivors (1974)
13.   Shivers (1975)
14.   Rabid (1977)
15.   Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1979)
16.   Road Games (1981)
17.   Night of the Demon (1980 or 1983 – I have different info on the release date)
18.   The Wind (1986)
19.   Munchies (1987)
20.   Killer Crocodile (1989)
21.   Popcorn (1991)
22.   Ghostwatch (1992)
23.   Mommy (1995)
24.   Mommy 2: Mommy's Day (1997)
25.   Whispering Corridors (1998)
26.   Memento Mori (1999)
27.   Wishing Stairs (2003)
28.   Feast (2005)
29.   Vacancy (2007)
30.   The House of the Devil (2009)
31.   The Amityville Moon (2021)

Only two days left as of this post. Overall a very mixed result this year. :P Hoping 2022 will fair better.

22.   Ghostwatch (1992)

I didn't see this (and still haven't) but I still remember everyone talking about it at school the next day... they all thought it was real because it featured well known kids tv presenters and was done as if it was 'live'

imdb says this

"It earned the dubious honour of being the first TV programme to be cited in the British Medical Journal as having caused Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in children."

apparently there was also a helpline set up!

please do not mock my potato.

Ahh back in the day when stuff like this upset people. Something similar happen in Germany when the made-for-TV horror/thriller (theatrical worldwide) Spare Parts (1979) was shown on TV. Spare Parts was about organ trade. It had people upset and was heavily discussed in the media for months. German doctors chimed in and criticised the film's exploitative approach (jeez, it was only a movie).
I don't think anybody suffered anything traumatic, but it was a conroversial subject (back then) for sure.
Is it October yet?

Good choices!
The INVISIBLE RAY (1936) has Bela as a good guy! And of course it has Boris- kind of like Lon Chaney's MAN MADE MONSTER (1940).

You can't go wrong with SHIVERS (1975)!

But NIGHT OF THE DEMON (1980) is fantastic! I mean-  Bigfoot ripping out some guys guts and whipping morons with it is great!
Oh yeah- welcome to the club!

I have it on DVD and it is very disturbing.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

That's actually a really interesting line up.

I don't think I've ever actually sat down and made a 31 movie for Halloween list.  I've done 24 hour Halloween movie marathons and challenegd myself to watch one horror movie I haven't seen yet every day for October, but never really made a list like this.

I think I'm going to have to do that now.

Honestly if I didn't take time off from work (a week or two from my personal leave) I wouldn't be able to do it. I do it for the challenge and discovering new movies to watch outside of the regular rotations however you can go through a bad or boring batch of films at once. :P Munchies was a title that made me grab the rum.

...Night of the Demon (1980 or 1983 – I have different info on the release date)
...

If you mean this, it's highly recommended...  and 1957...

If you want to view paradise . . . simply look around and view it!

I think he means ...

(1988)
It is ALSO highly recommended, at least, if you like 80s horror.
It's got Linnea Quigley in it.

Pretty sure it's the 1980 or 1983 (the date of release is sketchy) version-

I totally forgot about that movie.

(There's too many different Night of the Demon(s) movies out there.)

^ Well, being as he listed the film as made in 1980 or '83, I think that cinches it.
It is also listed in the end credits as  c @1979! So who knows?
This newspaper page is from Feb. 1980

And yes, it's a killer Bigfoot movie. With Devil worshipers. And a guy gets his dick ripped off. Another gets tossed in a sleeping bag. Great movie.

Now I'm in the mood for a Night of the Demon, Night of the Demon, Night of the Demons triple feature.
