Title: ROOM- CLEARING TUNES
Post by: alandhopewell on August 23, 2012, 12:08:40 PM
Post a YouTube song that will send folks scurrying for cover, or at least an aspirin.

It's hard to believe, but some people actually don't like this song   :bluesad:

Bunch of hoity-toity music snobs, that's what they are.

This would work for most of my friends... as in driving them out of the room.  But a handful like me would be drawn into the room and the sound source.

I made a bar go silent for a moment when I played this on the jukebox (Touch Tunes jukeboxes are the best!):

These could do the trick:

I like all these.

Anything from Napalm Death's SCUM album will not only clear your house of guests who've overstayed their welcome, but household pests as well. If you play it loud enough, you'll probably clear out a few of your neighbors' houses as well.  :teddyr:

...as an added bonus, the songs are so short that by the time the police arrive, the album will be finished and you can play innocent. "Who, me?"

Scum is soooo classic it's not even funny. My fave song is Sacrificed. However, as far as grind goes I think Agoraphobic Nosebleed's Honky Reduction gives Scum a run for it's money.
If you really wanna clear a room quick, just crank up some Masonna.

I will never forget the day my brother (who's the big grind/death metal/extreme guy in the family) first brought home Scum on LP. I had never heard anything like that before in my life. He put that thing on the stereo and I swear to God I thought something had gone horribly wrong with our turntable, I'm like "Dude! The needle must've snapped, or the speaker's blown, or..." haha. Then I realized he was headbanging to it and I said, "Wait, it's supposed to sound like that?"  :teddyr:

Really? That may not have been sung live but I didn't notice a single instance of the lip synching going "out" of synch there AHD. Definitely seen worse! Sometimes it's hard to tell because YouTube will occasionally mess up audio tracks so that even live performances look a bit 'off', time wise...

Okay, when I say "lip synching" I don't mean just singing.  Their hit record is playing.  Watch the drummer.

Oh just miming in general, fair enough.Seen a few classic lip synching bloopers like when the singer falls off the stage and the vocals keep going, and one on I think top of the pops where the CD started skipping

Yep, that's the one. I screwed up the youtube code. I've noticed many people who don't like Tom Waits on a first listen can be won over with repeated exposure. My brother used to get angry when I played him, now his collection's almost as big as mine.

Just discovered this guy's work so I'll post some Tonetta.  I think he's got some genuinely good songs, but they're lo-fi and most of them feature the most vile, sexual lyrics imaginable.  Your average person is gonna be put off by this guy.  Most of his stuff isn't safe for this forum, and his videos are mainly of him in drag or other skimpy and strange outfits.  Here's a few safe ones:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liDdir5FBr0http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-FMC2OXTMQhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YqURBx3Btwhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=filt0Y8G0Fs

That was exactly the length for a game of Freecell.  I liked the video with the cute dolphins... I liked OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN... like, 35 years ago, uhm, I don't know that song.  I kind of like it.   :teddyr:  But I can see how it was not any kind of, uh, hit.  I think I saw that on MTV, which would have been a very long time ago... I could see where somebody might go to the bathroom when that came on.  I could see where maybe everybody went to the bathroom when that came on.

I actually don't listen to music while I'm cleaning my room.  I usually put a movie or tv series in my DVD player and use that as background noise while I'm cleaning.   If I do listen to a CD, its usually a comedian and...

Oh....that's not what you mean.

I know typically anything by her makes me want to leave the room.
