I think a movie from the 70's dealt with this.  The ants would make "suicide circuits" and short out the electrical systems of stuff.   Now its gonna bug me, no pun intended.

Or maybe BUG - which featured killer subterranean cockroaches.  These roaches could shoot fire out their hinies and spell out messages with their bodies like a marching band.
