I think something was lost in translation when they bought in all the stock "Sentai" footage back in the Nineties! Either that or the whole thing is even camper than it looks!

Short answer, no.

More specifically, that's not even "Power Rangers". It's a pre-Zyuranger Sentai. (Zyuranger is the Sentai season that was adapated into the original Power Rangers)

Also, a lot of male yellow-designated heroes in Sentai have female counterparts for the sake of, er... "diversity" I guess, even though the more recent Pr seasons have female Rangers do everything in tandem, hence eliminating the whole point of having multiple girls.
