The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars by David Bowie.

Personally I'm a big Bowie fan and any of his earlier albums to me feel like they should be on any list, but this one was great.  I dunno if anyone else named it yet, though.

BOB MARLEY Catch A Fire?  Nah, Burnin'   Burnin' is better but Catch A Fire started it all.  Both?

Get back to me when you make up your mind.

Happy: "Paranoid" made it but it was already guessed by Jack.
Hmmm.  Didn't know Jack picked it already.  All good.  Should be on the list.

Not done with the obvious ones just yet:
The Doors: The Doors

I dunno.  There's so many that come to mind.

Mothership Connection by Parliament pops into mind.

I figured if one was the other guess would simply cancel it out... Burnin'

Just thought:
It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back- Public Enemy

I'd be damned shock if it's not on there.

In response to several suggestions above, I think a few of those won't be on the list, but certainly the artists... and so much for this one at a time crap...

DOORS L.A. Woman

TALKING HEADS Remain In Light

ROXY MUSIC Siren

KING CRIMSON In The Court of the Crimson King

ROLLING STONES Beggar's Banquet

JEFFERSON AIRPLANE Volunteers

BECK Odelay

PINK FLOYD Wish You Were Here

Happy: +1 for "Ziggy Stardust," +1 for "Mothership Connection," +1 for "It Takes a Nation of Millions."  -1 for "Stop Making Sense" (that should have made it IMO). Net: +2
Newt: +1 for "Natty Dred" and +1 for "The Doors"
BTM: +1 for "Raisin' Hell"
Circus: +1 for "Machine Head"
AHD: With the Marley selections I wasn't sure if you were guessing or just thinking out loud.  "Burnin'" is wrong, as are "L.A. Woman," "Siren," "Beggars Banquet," "Volunteers," Odelay," and "Wish You Were Here." That's -7 (!) There's no more Doors, Stones, or Floyd on the list.  A couple of the bands/artists you were wrong about have a different album that made it.  "Crimson King" and "Remain in Light" are correct for +2.  Net: -5

Newt +8, Circus_Circus +7, DCA +4,  Jack +2,  Allhallowsday +1, Pilgermann +1, Happy Gilmore +1, Doggett + 0.5,  The DarkSider 0, Jim H. 0,  BTM 0, The Burgomaster -1, WilliamWeird -1, Andrew -3, Derf -4
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

I was guessing: BOB MARLEY Catch A Fire

JEFFERSON AIRPLANE Surrealistic Pillow
ROXY MUSIC For Your Pleasure

"Peter Gabriel" - the one with melty face thingy as most critics would probably say it's his best.

Rev. Powell

Circus: "Yes Album" and Peter Gabriel "melty-face" are both correct.  +2
AHD: Sorry, "Catch a Fire" is also wrong, so the result was the same.  And now I feel bad for giving you the hint because "Surrealistic Pillow" and "For Your Pleasure" are both wrong, -2. I too would have expected "Surrealistic Pillow" to appear, but he chose no Airplane whatsoever.
