I think sometimes the worst thing to happen is for a person to vanish. Then every time the phone rings or there is a knock on the door, you think it might be him or her.

Ditto on the best wishes.  I'm lucky to not have had many tragedies within my family.  Here's hoping he's okay, wherever he is.

It's a shame, man. I can't begin to imagine how you must feel. But I know sometimes, I just wish we could look into someone and see what's troubling him. I know from experience, depression can make a mess of a person's whole perception of reality. It saddens me when I hear about people who found themselves in that scary place and couldn't ask for help. I can't help thinking of his poor kids.
