The first couple of seasons of COSBY were actually very good, usually when Cosby was improvising, although the show jumped the shark quickly when Lisa Bonet left. I also think it has an important part in TV history as the first all-black TV comedy that didn't play up jive-talking stereotypes.

Cosby Show was too much about pushing moral lessons every episode for my liking. Actually I found the little kids on that show to be its funniest element.
