Do you loan out your movies?

I basically have no one to loan stuff to, and of the few I could, they wouldn't touch my movies with a ten-foot pole as MY films are beneath them. And yet these same people pay theater prices to see Michael Bay films....

I learned with books to never loan anything unless you are okay with never seeing that item again. The same is true with movies. If I know I can replace it, or if I have multiple copies, then I'll loan it, but only if someone asks. They never ask.

Let's be honest--no one wants to borrow the kind of movies I have on my shelf.

Ditto. Some friends and family members have accused me of being selfish because I won't lend out my movies or books, but after all the times I've received damaged property back, I simply refuse to take the chance any more.

A couple of years ago I let a guy at work borrow my Werner Herzog/Klaus Kinski Collection. He kept 'forgetting' to return it and then later got fired or something . . .  so bye-bye $50 bucks of movies.

I never lend my stuff now unless it's something I really don't mind having it disappear.

For the most part, my movies are too...odd... for most of my friends.  There has been a couple times when I've been asked if something could be borrowed and usually I'm pretty good about it.  I've never had a movie not returned or broken, so that's nice.  The most recent was the father of the drummer in my band asked to borrow my copy of This Is Spinal Tap.  I obliged and got it back a week later, still in perfect condition.

yup, same here also with videogames, as in my NFS Hot Pursuit 2 getting scratched by someone that I lended out to my friends who lended it to the other guy and got all f**ked up.

I do, but only to people I know. In general though, I just have them watch it at my house.

I stopped lending out movies to co-workers after I lent several really good ones to a co-worker and then she abruptly moved to Scotland with her boyfriend. I don't know if they were evading the law or what but I came into work one morning and casually asked, "Hey where's Shirley?" and someone said, " I heard she's in Scotland." and I was like..."Right."  On the good side, I did receive a package in the mail years later containing  most of my movies, but I'd already re-purchased most of them anyway.

 I will lend to family because I know I can always eventually track them down.

I don't, unless it's someone I know very well.  But I do bring DVDs when I go to someone elses place to watch them with other people.

I don't. I'm very anal about my collection. People are welcomed to watch movies at my place any time though.
