Are you left handed, right handed, or ambidextrous?

Whenever I see lefties writing I think to myself, "that looks uncomfortable".  Not sure if I'm the only one that feels that way.

In primary school, all the lefties were put on one side of the class so that they wouldn't bump the arms of the righties while they were writing. As a righty, I didn't mind sitting with them, said so and sat there. If this sounds silly to you, this was the same school that ordered its' students to write in pencil until the teachers decided if the kids could use a pen.  :buggedout:

It doesn't seem like pushing the pen is all that optimal, does it. It also seems like you'd be getting a lot of ink on the side of your hand doing that, what with it following the pen. I wonder if anyone has done any studies on how quickly kids learn penmanship, comparing them by dominant hand. I would expect writing left handed to be a little bit harder, just because it seems like most written languages evolved to be written easily with the right hand.

And actually, we were never allowed to use pens for the first two or three years of school. Started with a big table leg of a pencil, then graduated to one slightly less huge, then to the standard yellow ones. Some time after that, third or fourth grade, we got pens.

Writing left-handed is awkard and can get messy if you're using a pen. I've learned to keep the side of my hand elevated slightly when I write to keep it from dragging through the ink.

My handwriting, like many lefties, is terrible.  :tongueout:

I will probably always have some form of ink stain on the outside of my left hand for as long as I live!  Pencils have never been a problem, but when I first learned to use a pen it was a fountain pen ... and what a mess!  Thankfully, ballpoint pens became the norm soon after.  But I still can smear them too ....

I'm very clumsy with my right hand, but utterly incompetent using my left.

I write left handed, but if you've seen my writing, well, maybe I'm a right hander and never knew it!

I throw left handed, bat right handed and can play tennis and pool with either.

I also played House of the Dead Overkill the other day with two guns, one in each hand and my right hand did just as good a job as the left.  Shooting zombies has never been so much fun!

Are you keeping an eye on the T20 cricket world cup ~ an Aussie / SA final would be nice, I think.  :teddyr:
