Westmalle Trippel.  I've been lucky enough to travel to Belgium a few times for work and I always look forward to drinking this beer while I'm there.  I've tried a variety of Belgian beers, but I always come back to this one.  Two thumbs up!

I'd like to hear your 4 runners up, since I love Belgian beer.

I forgot to even mention lambics... I haven't had one in so long.  I forget which Kriek it was I loved... Lindemann's?

I am a virtual teetotaller but I do have a cold beer every so often. Nothing reminds you more of where you are than an ice cold Castle Lager.

I jumped too, but I'd never go back.  To me it's worth the extra $$$ for something that tastes good.

Tough to say . . . Duvel, Jupiler (which I think is a good "chugging" beer  :drink:), Jan van Ghent (which I believe is just a local beer in Ghent: I'm not sure how common it is in other parts of Belgium), Leffe Blonde, Delirium Tremens (with the pink elephant on the label!) . . . too many to name and I'm sure I'm forgetting some good ones.

5.) Coors Light- I generally hate the taste, but if no other beer is available, it gets the job done.  Everyone in the family loves it (except me), so for things like the 4th of July, eh.

4.) Miller- I drink it occasionally.  Seems to be a middle of the road type beer.  People like it or they don't.

3.) Corona- sometimes, on a nice hot Summer night.

2.) Michelob- My original beer of choice, before it got replaced.

1.) Budweiser- My all time favorite, drink of choice.  Apparently Universally LOATHED, I LOVE it.

1. Mackeson Triple Stout (my fave all-time beer, unfortunately recently defunct.)

2. Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout (a close second to Mackeson, full flavored but not bitter.  I love it.  I'm very partial to English stouts.)

3.  EKU 28 (A very potent German beer with a slight sweetness.  Very filling, but so incredibly good.)

4. Samuel Adams Double Bock (another potent, full flavored but smooth delight.)

5. Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout  (not quite as good as their oatmeal stout, but it's close.)

5. Heinekin
4. Fat Tire
3. Newcastle
2. Duck Rabbit Dark Stout
1. Guinness

When I got married, my Best Man and his wife (one of my wife's bridesmaids) was into home brewing.  They brought 8 cases of home brew to our rehearsal dinner party and it was great.  Though not listed explicitly on my list above, a lot of my favorites are home brews or microbrewery beers.

Long live the little guy.

1.) Budweiser- My all time favorite, drink of choice.  Apparently Universally LOATHED, I LOVE it.

I wouldn't say loathed, it's the best-selling beer in America and maybe the world.  But all of those beers are American cereal lagers; people either prefer them, often because they grew up with them, or they hate them.  I'd consider Budweiser like the McDonald's cheeseburger version of a beer, and the others I named like filet mignon.

A few years ago I had to go to in London for work.  Before I went everyone advised me, "Don't drink Budweiser in England . . . you'll be laughed at."  I went to a pub out in the suburbs and ordered an English beer.  Then i noticed about half of the locals were drinking Budweiser . . .

A friend of mine in Brussels warned me never to drink Heineken as "it has 43% horse pee in it". I went  :buggedout: and asked him how he knew that. He told me to look at the label where it said Hors concours ~ actually meaning "Out of competition".  :drink:

I had an Irishman tell me he preferred American beers because of the lower alcohol content: he could drink longer before passing out.

I figure it sells well enough, but almost everyone I know personally hates it.  And others I meet, we talk, and they often quite mention how horrible it tastes and don't know how people like it.

I kinda like the taste.  It's not bitter, not sweet.  Not overly filling, and the perfect amount of alcohol content.  I know how far to push it when I drink it before I'm at the point where I'm stumbling around with my underwear on my head.

It's pretty disgusting.  One of the worst tasting I've had.  Along with Rolling Rock.  But they were cheap so I drank them.  Then again, my 'tastes' are pretty damned disgustin.  Twinkie-Wiener Sandwiches and all.
