Sad news.  I really loved his work.  Airplane is one of the rarest movies of all - a comedy I can watch over and over.  Police Squad was easily the funniest TV show of its era, and those Naked Gun movies are totally entertaining as well.  He led a long and full life, and I guess that's all any of us can ask for.

He was a comedy gem. He will be missed.  :bluesad:

Very sad, indeed.  I will also miss him for his part in the best movie of all-time: Creepshow.

What I love about tha film is he is completely out of the box we're used to seeing him in and man does he shine in that role.  But of course his home was slapstick and he was beyond a master of it.

It wasn't until I was in my middle 20s and watched "Forbidden Planet" again that I realized Leslie Nielsen is the captain of the spaceship.  Very serious in his role, and his acting is very good.

RIP, Mr. Nielsen.

WHAAAAAAAAT?!  He's been old forever!  This news makes me feel like that picture of the walrus having his bucket taken away  :bluesad:.  I guess there won't be a sequel to Dracula Dead and Loving it  :bluesad: :bluesad: :bluesad:

Thats the weird thing. He's always been old, but he never seemed that old. I would have guessed he was in his late 60's by now, at the latest.

Part of the wonderful beauty of his life is he never faded away.  Every decade he seemed to have pop up in films and his presence only pushed the humor envelope.   I'm glad the current generation got to enjoy some modern stuff from him.
