Not sure about the exact music used, but I believe the actual Guitar Wolf band are characters in the movie and I know it features their music.  Is that film worth checking out?

I had that on LP way back in 1985. I still have all of those LPs I bought in the mid-80's when I was obssessed with hardcore metal. I just don't have a working player at the moment.

Yes, the band are characters.  The movie's not bad, I would say if you're a fan of the band you'll definitely want to give it a try.  It's a "rock 'n roll jet movie."

Much better.  Mainly straight-ahead jazz with some reasonably big names (James Moody, Freddy Hubbard) but also some vocalists and some electronica/international jazz.
