Anyone here ever hear so much hype or get their expectations to high for a popular B-movie?

I watched Sleepaway Camp and The Beyond, and I hate to say it...I was disappointed.

Howard The Duck for me. It's boring, dull and silly without redeeming fun cheese in my opinion.

Xanadu. As a bad movie lover, this didn't do much for me. I don't hate it, but I prefer Can't Stop the Music for laughs and giggles.

zombie no.one

probably Starship Troopers for me. everyone's like "omg you've gotta see it, it's so bad it's great omg!!" but I just found it boring  :bluesad:

I liked Sleepaway Camp. it wasn't amazing but had just enough story and tension to keep me interested (plus the shock ending  :buggedout:)

also it seems to have the youngest ever actors in a slasher movie(?) they all seem about 11-12!

Olivia Bauer

Hangover Part II - It had it's moments but mostly it wasn't even HALF as funny as the first one.

Twilight -

I really love Sleepaway Camp and it's sequels. They're a fun wath if you ask me. But I do agree with you about The Beyond - Fulci's "materpiece" as it's known - to me it just seemed like any average spaghetti horror movie. I do strongly reccommend you check out Don't Torture A Duckling, however. You'd never guess it was a Fulci movie, it's just that good.

I also really like Sleepaway Camp.

NIght of the Lepus which is somehow on TCM tonight p**ses me off for some reason. it's so stupid! it's just bunnies!

I don't get all the attention that The Room gets, I mean its funny but its way over hyped as a bad movie. Also it just annoys me that people declare it one of the worst movies ever... Yeah they'd lose their sanity if they watched one of the movies from a Mill Creek pack that has 4 votes on Imdb.

The Room is more unintentionally awkward than flat-out bad, unlike After Last Season where nothing happens, its boring and the sets are f**king hallways! That cost more than The Room

That is the whole point!

I love all the Sleepaway Camp films including Return To Sleepaway Camp and love the fact it has actors from the first movie back as their characters.

Psycho Circus

I'm another Sleepaway Camp lover. The first one just has a creepy vibe running throughout it and is fairly decent seeing as it is yet another campsite slasher. Plus, as everyone always says, the ending is just freakin' great! As for the sequels, I enjoyed them a lot, good trashy late 80s horror with killer soundtracks.

Suspiria is tremendously overhyped.  No acting, no story, and the ending is straight out of a SyFy Original movie.  Sure it's got two or three scenes that are pretty, but that really doesn't constitute a great movie for me.  Argento is nothing more than a cinematographer, and it really shows because the movie quite simply doesn't have a director.  A long time ago on a (very serious) horror site they were doing a poll of the most overrated movie ever.  I suggested Suspiria and the idea caught on, as it won first place.  There were people threatening to leave the site over that   It's just soooo typical.

The Sleepaway Camp movies never did much for me.  The first one is like an R-rated version of The Bad News Bears.  The two sequels - having the killer as the main character and making it kind of funny just doesn't work for me.

Blood Feast, maybe revolutionary for it's day but it doesn't really stand up.

I'll add in a whole lot of Troma and Full Moon stuff into this category.

This topic reminds me. I still need to watch Zombie Holocaust (1980). :twirl:

I hope it's NOT an 'overhyped B movie'. I mean the trailer looks 'bloody' cool.

Most Argento and Fulci films.  I have no clue how they got such reputations as they have, their movies are dull beyond endurance.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space.  Made the most of its budget, I'll give it that, but it just wasn't very good.  The two comic relief guys could have brought down a much, much better movie all by themselves.
