Whats with the screaming?
I was listening to a CD I made of the Toho film music. I had some trailer audio included, and one was from 'IT Terror from beyond space'
And I realised, 'hey, there are some guys screaming in there.'
Sooooo... Two questions:

What would you say is the percentage of male vs. female screaming incidents in your average film.
And, what guy had the best lung stretcher of a scream that you can remember. I'll allow death scream, as there are a lot of them.

P.S. What was the most amusing scream? Unintentional and contextually mucked up types allowed.

Eastern movies typically have much more male screaming.  In Western movies, it's usually females screaming while the man just assumes a horrified expression.  If a man does scream in a Western movie, it's usually to show that he's a coward a effeminate.

A notable exception is the movie Poltergeist.  The Dad gets one of the greatest, and most justified, movie screams ever.
Kneel before Dr. Hell, the ruler of this world!

One of the best all-out screams I can think of was in the Coen Brothers movie Barton Fink. John Turturro (sic?) let's out a doozy when he wakes up to find a dead woman next to him.

The scream/yell from the movie producer in The Godfather when he wakes up next to the severed horse head.

I don't always talk about bad movies, but when I do, I prefer badmovies.org

Most amusing male scream: the guy in the small plane in Kingdom of the Spiders. Kills me every time.

In the film ALUCARDA someone seems to be screaming every other minute. I can't post the clip here (NSFW) but I love Alucarda's whirling dervish screaming rant!  :hot: ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!!  :hot:

In the movie The Lost World:Jurassic Park, there is a scene where the T Rex is running amuck in San Diego knocking over cars, buses and what have you.  One not so lucky guy making a B Line for a phonebooth (?) doesn't quite make it. The T Rex grabs him, lifts him in the air, and the guy lets out this really pathetically lame scream. I'd almost swear just as the T Rex chomps down on the guy you can hear a glub, glub kind of sound.
Hold onto your dreams ....

KING KONG (1933) has lots of great man screams. My favorite is the sailor who gets plucked from the tree by the man-eating brontosaurus.

"OOOOOO! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! WAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAA!" (Dramatic music chord)
