Zoloft, Wellbutrin and Concerta.

It's amazing how many people on this board have some combination of depression, anxiety, OCD and ADHD.
We need them to deal with society.

I actually started my "mood meds" a year ago.  I found myself snapping a lot especially around the kids who of course are relentless.  Figuring it would be best for them and myself , I went on med.  I react with anger a lot less now.

Like a couple of other old farts on this board I take the cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure meds. And like RC I loves me some Black Velvet.

True in my case certainly: the other thing is if I have had an anxiety or panic attack at work, I come on here, browse and quiet down reasonably quickly. The same goes for when I feel sick or have panic attacks at night, I come on here via my phone and calm down after a while and then am able to sleep.  :smile:

  I do the same thing Trev. There are a couple funny comic book sites I visit that usually help chill me out too.

I had been thinking of doing a topic or something on this but here is as good a place as any:

I have had OCD handwashing contamination fear type OCD for the last 10 or so years. It was "under control" with 200 mg of Zoloft (so much so I was down to 50 for a while ) I also developed some unhealthy ritual type behaviour which was also under then out of control . I recently got a new job that is long hours and very tiring. Under control got totally out of control. Compounding this was my new psychiatrists idea to take me OFF Zoloft completely and put me on celexa which is like the East German communist version of Zoloft as far as I can tell.

The last month has been harrowing. I didn't think a person could feel this bad and still be alive. hour long showers, anxiety totally out of control,etc the mornings are especially awful. I would describe them as just total dysphoria however you spell it. I worried myself sick. It was nuts. I was at 0 physically and mentally. It looked like I was headed to a hospital but I've been grinding it out and it's getting slightly better in some ways. As of like an hour ago I'm getting back on Zoloft.

I don't usually share stuff like this but just to warn or remind people: don't wait till you hit rock bottom to seek treatment. Little things that seem like they are under control and even beneficial can get out of control and dangerous before you know it.

I'd like to second Lester's point.  I had a similar situation when I tried to switch anti-depressants at the doctor's suggestion.  For a few weeks I spiraled into a worse depression than the one that caused me to seek treatment in the first place!

* Metformin for diabetes
* Metoprolol for heart
* Plavix for heart
* Childrens aspirin for heart
* Vitamin D for heart and general health
* Zetia for cholesterol

 Our doctors must have gone to the same medical school.  :smile:

I take Metformin for "The Betes"
Metoprolol for High Blood Pressure
Lisinopril for High BP
Hydrochlorothiazide for High BP
Lipitor for cholesterol
Baby Aspirin
Omega 3 supplements
Co Q-10 to offset the Lipitor which depletes Co Q-10

Surprisingly, my blood pressure has never been a problem . . . even though I had my heart attack!  I took Lipitor for awhile, but statin drugs give me Rhabdomyolysis.  This is a condition most people get when they are in accidents where they are crushed and muscle fibers are released into their bloodstream.  This could eventually cause kidney problems.  Zetia has not had this effect on me.

Not taking any medicine right now. I did take some kinda anxiety medicines when I was in Middle School, but they kinda made me act like an a***ole.

That's sucks Lester. I hope going back to Zoloft gives you some peace of mind.

If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

Psycho Circus

Not taking anything currently, but I have been on every anti-depressant under the sun at one time or another. I just can't handle the risk of that dip two weeks into a course of tablets. I go full-on psycho. I don't like taking medication anyway, doesn't matter what it is.

Ash

Lisinopril for blood pressure (hypertension runs in my family) and Zoloft.

The Zoloft has worked wonders for me.  For years I was in a deep depression but once I started Zoloft, things began to change.  Within the first three months of taking it, I started getting out more and even created my business, Eastern Iowa Airsoft, from scratch.  Still on it and doing fine.   :smile:
