So, Eddie's son Wolfgang played on the album and will tour.

Meh.

It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide.

The Burgomaster

Advance sale tickets for their Boston show went on sale to American Express cardholders last week.  I almost bought tickets, but decided against it.  I've been to several retro concerts in the past few years (Def Leppard, STYX, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar).  They were decent, but they made me remember when these bands were in their "top of the charts" years and how they are only shadows of what they once were.

At this point I hardly care about these bands who were once in the limelight who come back just to rehash and cash in on the same junk and make zero effort to write creative or interesting material.  They may still be talented musicians but they don't use that talent in any useful way.

I kind of agree and do think that is mostly for the purposes of money, but as far as Van Halen are concerned I'm happy. They don't really have to go out of their way to be creative and write the world's best album, because people just want to hear more of their music and see the line-up they grew up rockin' out to. Plus, if a band wants to play together and they are enjoying it, all the best to 'em.

I was in an awfully cynical mood the other day, and while my sentiments still stand for the most part, I can't disagree that it's nice to see musicians getting together and having a good time.  Sometimes more of the same is good.  I'm sure that if some of the groups I like who've have had their run got back together I'd be pretty excited, but man, that Tattoo song is kinda lame.   :teddyr:  I'm sure they'll mostly play older material in concert, though.
