there's been a few 'album' threads recently so how about one for solo albums by ex-band members. or even ones released while they were still in the band. the rule is they had to have come to be known for being in a band, rather than a solo artist

here's a few of my favourites ...

Donald Fagen (STEELY DAN) - The Nightfly

David Lee Roth (VAN HALEN) - Eat Em And Smile

Mitch Easter (LET'S ACTIVE) - Dynamico

I think this counts:
Hellbilly Deluxe by Rob Zombie.  His solo debut after leaving White Zombie.  White Zombie was all over MTV and then split up and he started a solo thing.  Is this what you're talking about? Maybe I'm tired, but I can think of more later.

@happy, yeah you got it

@tracy, I always thought Band On The Run was technically by the band 'Wings' , but looking it up it appears to be 'Paul McCartney & Wings' so I'll let you off   :teddyr:

Blizzard of Ozz by Ozzy Osbourne

Ozzy had been known as the frontman for legendary group Black Sabbath.  He had been out of the group, and originally recorded this album not as a solo album, but of the debut of his new band, "Blizzard of Ozz."  Whatever the circumstances were, the label decided to market him as a solo artist, and named the debut album Blizzard of Ozz by Ozzy Osbourne.

Kicked off an amazing solo career for the man.

not quite "ex" band members, but michael gira and jarboe did two solo albums respectively under the name Skin while swans were still active. gira's album was called "shame, humility and revenge" and jarboe's one was called " blood, women, and roses". they're both excellent albums.
