Maybe not to obscure-but mostly forgotton.
The sequel to WESTWORLD (1973)-FUTUREWORLD (1976).

Incidently-both films made the cover of FAMOUS MONSTERS magazine-but FUTUREWORLD didn't generate much buzz in fandom-(yes Virginia-there was a Fandom before the internet.)

NOSFERATU-the VAMPIRE IN VENICE (1986)

More of a sequel in title rather than story-none the less it does star Klaus Kinski as the vampire-as it has nothing really to do with Herzogs NOSFERATU (1979).

Silent  Running (1972)- Bruce  Dern plays an environmentalist/astronaut trying to save the Forests that  were left, now housed  in Greenhouse Domes  orbiting the earth. It's been said to be a sequel of '2001'  or a prequel to  Soylent  Green.  It has  some good  effects and the cutesy robot drones  were  definately a prototype  of R2D2. The ending is naturally  tragic, 70's  disaster  flick. The worst  part of the film is the  title songs sung by the insufferable singing of  Joan Baez. Still, It is  fun to watch, Bruce  Dern fight off the  'establishment' Astronauts  who are as callous and mean about nature  as  those  who shot  trees  for fun  in another  70's   flick, Rollerball.

I believe that Starship Troopers has two sequels, to which I have not subjected myself.

FJA  or  '4E'  to  his friends  lives  eternal. The  reason  many of these  movie  makers  came about is due to  reading  Famous Monsters  Of  Filmland.
