31. Black Christmas (1974): This classic that arguably ignited the slasher craze (but is that a bad or good thing?) was made in Canada. This movie is suspenseful and thrilling with some startling murders taking place at a soriorty house during Christmas. No real gore but lots of chilling atmosphere. Directed by Bob Clark.

Great British horror flick directed by Pete Walker concerning a cannibalistic old granny, played by Sheila Keith to perfection.  Wrote a review of this a while back.

35.HAXAN (1922) aka WITCHCRAFT THROUGH THE AGES is a very disturbing Danish film....this scene predates Russels the DEVILS (1971) by almost 50 years!

39. The GOLEM (1920) Germany.
Their was a earlier version made-in 1914-and even a comedy short in 1917 called the GOLEM AND THE DANCING GIRL-both,alas-are lost.

Just  as a point of intrest-fragments of the 1914 GOLEM exist-but the notable difference is mostly in the set design...no surreal sets  here-as the influence of CALIGARI would not apply to film until 5 years later.
