QuoteI never liked Blockbuster stores because there was no porn section like the mom & pop video stores always have.

...and whether they wanted to admit it or not, the "back room" was where the money was for most of those mom & pop stores.  :teddyr:

During the dying days of repressive censorship here (1992 -1993) the so-called adult films were kept behind a locked door in most video stores and you had to produce ID and be over 21 to rent them.  :teddyr:
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

Wish I could say that leaves me out. :tongueout:
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.

This is 100% nostalgia talking but I will keep my memories of going out on family movie nights to find something fun to watch. I will also cherish every weird or obscure thing I ever found on those shelves. Related: There was a movie rental place in my area during the early 90's called Video Vault. Had it not been for Video Vault, I wouldn't have learned about Robot Jox until a few years ago when I finally dove into the B-pool of the internet.

Ahhh, Robot Jox (1990)! An indelible classic of epic B-movie proportions! Many wonderful memories were made spent watching late-night cable TV in 1991, wondering "how did they do that" on such a limited budget. The cheesy acting only made the experience that much more enjoyable. You can tell that everybody involved had a marvelous time creating this cinematic gem!  :bouncegiggle:

First rule is, 'The laws of Germany'
Second rule is, 'Be nice to mommy'
Third rule is, 'Don't talk to commies'
Fourth rule is, 'Eat kosher salamis'

I kinda miss the place.

At least I did back when they carried a wider selection instead of just carrying 87 copies of each new release.  It was always fun just going down the ilses trying to see what jumped out at you and what looked interesting.  of course even that got harder as DVD took precedence and all the box arts started to be photoshopped heads.

Back in my stealing days...I mean, burning games on to discs days, Blockbuster was a great place to rent video games and burn copies of them. This was before I discovered pawn (charity) shops and the bargain bin at Gamestop.

The Blockbuster in the town where I live near is having a closing down sale, a shame to see it go like this. With services like Netflix and LOVEFiLM though, less people venture out to stores to rent flicks nowadays when it's so much easier to just do it online.

I can't say I'm sad to see them go. Back when I last used them in the early 2000's their prices were utterly insane and they also took customers away from local video rental stores.

You are absolutely on the money. Over the last few years, I noticed the ridiculously high prices, attempting to compensate for their competitors' better options I always surmised. They screwed me over once when I was a kid, and said I didn't turn in a movie which I did. That has irked me until this day. Well, looks like I have the last laugh. Now I just need that lousy Video Exclusive store to perish, and I will be sated.

I think one thing is for sure, Randy Marsh certainly isn't happy about this.
