No, not quite. 

DNA tests have shown that the Ripper was one Aaron Kosminski, a Polish immigrant in England. I remember seeing the documentary The Secret Identity of Jack The Ripper in 1988 which also proposed him as the killer.

I have always thought the Ripper was a member of royalty or someone high up in the government.

I dunno. It seems more like a way to promote the new book this is based on than truly convincing evidence. Someone a decade ago claimed to have DNA evidence for Jack the Ripper's identity, finding a completely different person than this result.

Yeah whenever something's being used to promote a book I always have to wonder how much is science and how much is marketing.  The origins of the shawl will need to be thoroughly scrutinized and the DNA evidence verified.  A very interesting theory if proven true though.

The Walter Sickert Book was utter foolishness.   It was all circumstantial.

Could be. Women weren't normally allowed into the world of medical knowledge, but given the fact the victims were mostly hookers, if could be that a knowledgeable woman could have waged a war against sin. Given the body parts removed, is it possible the killer was righting some transgressions?
