So I was updating my blu-ray player via internet the other week and now I have Netflix on my player. I've never streamed or used a streaming service before so I was considering testing their 30 days free trial, but after doing some research I decided not to stream at all. I love movies and I want to see and hear them with the best quality possible. Streaming HD won't look as good as Blu-ray HD since streaming has to compress data etc. Not only that, you won't get any True HD Lossless Audio. It seems that only something sounding similar to DD 5.1 can be done with streaming. Then there are issues depending on your internet speed (buffering and other annoyances).
I'd say streaming "might" be good for renting movies only, but I don't see how streaming will ever replace physical media. Why settle for less quality?

I can tell you that all HDTV rips I see are stereo, having to wait for WEB-DLs if you want 5.1 which is usually a couple of hours after it airs. I have no idea what quality netflix streams in, but I bet you it's worse than downloading decent rips and it's definitely worse than having the bluray discs. I think you made the right decision.. highly overrated service, the variety is good but they still have full dictator control over content.. only a matter of time before some exception is made then loads of stuff starts getting pulled.

Horses scare me.

I'm sorry to hear that.

My cousin up in the country bought a pair of Icelandic colts. Only one of them is trained to be ridden.
The horse doesn't like to be ridden, & as such, my cousin is a little apprehensive about riding him.

Me, the last time I went horseback riding, I got sea sick.

Screw THE INTERVIEW. I'm still waiting for The Creep Behind The Camera to come to my town, or come out on video.

I wasn't going to watch The Interview before they pulled it.
I wasn't going to watch it after they pulled it.
Now that it's back, I'm still not going to watch it.

I think that it's all a really big, really stupid publicity stunt, to be honest.

Horses scare me.

When I was a kid a horse bit me in the chest. I wasn't provoking the animal, I was just standing there watching the other horses. I wasn't traumatized after the incident but I had a lot of respect of horses after that. When I was 15 we were on vacation and the camp site offered horses for rent, so we all rented horses but mine only walked about 10 feet and decided not to walk anymore lol. I should note that this was my first time ever trying to ride a horse, without any instructions on how to do it from the people renting out the horses. Other than these two encounters I rarely come in contact with horses. And yeah, they don't scare me. [/rant end]
